Jacko: could you please post pictures and explain the installation of the hook? I saw a glimpse and it looked very different than the trimmed wing skids I use on my heavy Strykers

Hook is made out of 63 thou t6-7075 ali, cant remember the exact dimensions but its 75mm long

I cut a thin channel, not all the way through the fuse, just enough for it to bond nicely. Give the hook and the channel a clean up with acetone, stick it in with 24 hour epoxy, then run a couple of peices of carbon tow soaked in epoxy along each side of hook to help build a little glue gusset between the fuse and the hook.

Ive tested them to 15 kg's with no sign of failure, no bad habits when landing on em either, seem to be 100% so far.

On the X, the kapton tape is there to help the blades slide up the hook if they need to (and to see if they actually contact in flight!) Neither the blades, or the tape, have any contact marks on em so I doubt they even touch in practice, forces flick the blades out too quick.

Its hard to make out against the X's carbon, but its identical to the way the wasp's hook is mounted.

STOP! Please do not fly your x plane before checking this.

First of all yes i have a xplane i bought the second one that went to sweden from mattias.
This is a aileron only plane.
I was installing the servos when i discovered this :S

The balsa is cracked on both ailerons. I don't think that this is a shipping damage. I thinke this it the whipers that pushed the skin apart.
I hade no ide how long this crack goes in to the wing.
I can just move the ailerons 5mm up before the can't go anymore and when i hold down the skines they are down to mabye 3mm up.

^CA fixes it, one of my flaps was similar. No biggy, 2 seconds to fix.

Its not the wipers it more likely the hinges were a bit stiff so the skin flexes around the balsa while setting them up, once you have them setup, and the hinge is a bit "used" and frees up, its not an issue.

I'll be more then happy to replace the wing if You want.
If damage starts from the both end tips,it does look to me as a shipping damage./For some reason only Europe is not treating boxes well/
According to You picture, damage dont go further inside.
Thin CA or wing replacement will fix that
Yuri.
