Those bolts take a long time to undo when you are in a hurry Need a cordess screwdriver I think.


Anyway, my RX battery was smoking like mad and pretty hot. Later I figured out what had happened... The SPC line to the RX from the RX lipo had ridden up the side of the body slightly and the wingbolt had screwed through it....


X lives another day, no damage at all and easy fix to stop it happening again. One day I will get to fly 16x17 5s....

Lucky you noticed that wisp of smoke before you launched!

Just cut the bolts or get some shorter ones.
The threads that extend past the threaded inserts in the fuselage do not provide any benefit.

Yeah should have listened to everyone in this thread... I was watching the pack carefully but didn't even cross my mind the lead could be hit...

Just one question though - why are they so long? The blind nut is right at the top of the fuse, right?

To get "partially threaded' 3mm METRIC screws in the States was not an easy task.
They come just in one 30mm long size
I can start cut them for You guys ,but using them in full length myself.

When I build my planes,Xs or the other ones,making battery compartment
clear of wires is priority for me.
Usually I put wires which go from nose to the boom under battery velcro .

When I first recieved my X, it seemed to take forever to screw those long bolts in, my wrist got tired. This propted me to take a closer look. At that point, I really saw the potential for issues such as the ones that are popping up now.

Measured, cut, sanded.....all of about 10min.

Maiden report!!!! All was good....good and fast!! It flew like it was on rails, penetrated well. and was a joy to fly!! I need to tone down the throws but it was impressive! Nice Job Yuri...its build like a tank and CAN handle high Gs I'm loving " pylon style"!

Long story short for now......I happened.

I recently had to reprogram my TX.
The plane wasn't as dialed in as I was used to (a bit twitchy).
Got a little to slow....(brain fart)...tip stalled....over corrected...(dumb thumb)....tried to get a little speed up with motor, that made things worse.....over corrected some more.....

I wasn't very high, so I didn't have a lot of options, or room to exercise them.

It probably didn't help that it's only the second time I've been flying in about 5 months so I was rusty.

At least this is what I think happened. It happened rather quickly.
