You dont really need big servos in this plane.
Best ones are 5 Hyperion D09 metal or carbonite gear.
I personally like carbonite gears better--much less slop.
Also Airtronics 802 are great ,same size servos.
Yuri.

It appears that a DS-95 would fit if you cut off the lugs, but as others have said, a DS-09 or similar servo is perfectly adequate for the job.

Honestly Yuri, I don't remember, but it's the one you recommended. I want to say:

Nue 1110/1.5Y (?)
Ice Lite 100
5.2/1(?) gearbox
16x17 prop?

Something like that.

Lenny has all the gear and will be assembling it for me when his schedule opens up.

Hitec has finally answered our prayers with a really strong 8mm servo coming soon. The only down side is the price- $340 for 4 servos
I think it's going to be the right thing for these planes if you want them going over 220 mph though.

Hmm...

http://www.espritmodel.com/hitec-hs-...l-servo-1.aspx

At $80-$85 a pop, I the mks start to look really good.

I have never owned titanium gear servos, do they develop as much slop as all the other metal gear servos? I thought hitec switched to brass at some point to reduce slop....?

I was able to sand down Hyperion D-95 servo to 8.5mm when I needed.
D-95 servos have nice thick hard plastic casing and after sanding the servo there is still plenty of servo wall left.

X2 ready to go..

1145 grams with the 5s neu 2100 pack, 240 2s rx pack and 16/35/1+kgp27. (+ bungee hook!)

Just need to check the CG and get it flying!

I think I was running my last X at 54mm or so. This one seems to be about that, maybe 56mm...

Whats the furtherest back people have had it safely?

It not the servo alone...Im (and a lot of my F5D mates) happy with Dymond D47 or d60, good enough for 220mph...and cheap (20 )

http://www.modellhobby.de/Elektronik...&t=9&c=75&p=75

They can handle 2s lipo

If you want to have digital servos...I would try Graupner Des Servos...cheap and proved in fast planes.
