Oh Yuri, I was actually hoping Bulletmaster or heliclown may have opened their wallet...........

I think your offer is pretty safe unless the real owner of that lovely lovely 'roo adored X Plane wants to PM me their location.

You know it would be worth it just to hear what my wife says when a third one joins the other two that are still on display in my lounge room!

A lovely box arrived Thursday. My car has been out of commission for a bit over a month (broke down shortly after I received stitches), so I decided I would open the box after I got around to fixing the car. Tonight I determined the head has to come off the car, so some cheering up is in order and the box was opened "early." There is only one thing better than an X-plane... a pair of X-planes .

As before, the quality of craftsmanship is near perfection. The current plan is:

Yellow/Green:
KPG 5.2
GM 15x16
HET 1w-30 (28x52mm 4400kv)
4s ~2500mah
Phoenix 125
Based on some other planes I have I'm guessing this will be around 3kw and 130mph, pretty mild, but certainly provides room to prop up.

Red:
KPG 4.2
HET 2w-30 (28x52mm 2200kv)
Small 8s pack (~1300-1800mah depending on how many amps the motor combo pulls)
Ice lite 100
prop ??? I'd like something around 13x17. Rasa makes a 15x18 but the design looks a bit "fat" and I haven't read sparkly reviews yet. Marcus makes an 11x17, but I'm not sure this would give the acceleration I would like.

Unfortunately, now it looks like I will have plenty of time to research props as my cars head gasket isn't going to be a quick fix...

Interesting choice of setups!

combatflier,

For the Red one you mentioned 8S and ICE lite.

Manufacturer rating for Castle ICE is 8S max, but ICE lite is rated for 6S max.

Modified ESC? Or is true limit 8S?

Somewhere it was discussed that the ice and ice lite use the same programming/board and the limit was due to the lack of heat sink. I've used the ice lite 100a at around 55a peak on a Chinese 2150kv inrunner through 5.2:1 gb with the rfm 12.8x13 on a 1000mah 8s pack. As far as I can tell, efficiency was high and everything came down pretty cold (no cooling holes in the fuselage). That plane only lived two flights (my first incident since I started flying again a few years ago), so can't comment much more than that.

I don't have any fear pushing the ice lite 100 to 100a on 8s in 5sec bursts or 125a+ on ~2-3s bursts, but I have not tried it yet. 8s will require external bec or rx pack (I always use an RX pack).

Jacko beat me to it!

Thanx for the great pictures Dan.
Yuri.
P.S. CC 100 not LITE I pushed to 239Amps on 8S.
And going to do same thing with LITE ,at least for a half of that with cooling of course.
