Help!
Beech B-60 Duke

I'm seriously interested in scratch building a B-60 Duke, but I'm pulling my hair out trying to find Data on this airplane. Does anyone know if there are any books or manuals out there that might help me build this bird?? or does Beechcraft still have this plane under classified wraps?

Nice and unusual subject! I don't think Beech has it under wraps, as it's a design from the late sixties. The full scale was/is a maintenance hog and of less than stellar performance. Like all Beech products, the premium price limited the number of units purchased. I used to enjoy watching the long takeoff rolls though, as it was quite a ground hog.

This turbine conversion turns the Duke into quite a performer. As a bonus, an electric model would sound closer to scale with this version.

Good Luck!

Years ago (mid '80's) I was interested in drawing up a plan and doing a magazine article for an RC Beech D-18. When I contacted the folks at Beechcraft and requested information to help ensure that the model would be accurate they sent a folder FULL of information. A line drawing, numerous photos and a copy of the sales brochure were among the received items. Very impressive to say the least. Not sure what the policy is today but a nice letter to Beechcraft stating you are a modeler wishing to build an accurate model of the Beech B-60 Duke may be time well spent.

Soft landings,

Joe

Unfortunately, this seems to be the status norm for beech, now that raytheon purchased them. Back when they were their own entity, they were more than willing to help out.

Best advice i can give you, is contact a small maintenance provider that works on a duke, and ask them if you can come look through the beech maintenance manuals for the duke. They typically have all the info you would need.
