Took a little careful foam carving to get them in but definitely doable.

Great! That is the dimensions of the Nano 370mah, and I've got plenty of them!

Yeah, I'm still looking for a slow EDF! I just built a pusher last night. I'll have pusher experience within a week.

Afraid - You don't really get slow-fly EDF's because they rely on airspeed for airflow over the control surfaces; conventional prop-driven aircraft have the flow of air from their prop so are much better handlers at low speeds. End line is you gotta keep reasonable airspeed with an EDF to keep controls responsive.

My advice is just make sure the CG is ok then launch at 80%+ throttle and try and stay level until some speed builds up. Keep maneuvers gentle until you get some altitude and get sued to how it handles. You should do well with the pushers, let us know how you go!

Nice, then the Flightmax's I ordered should fit, at 40 x 20 x 15mm. Thats a bit of a relief. Always wondered why HK doesn't always give battery compartment dimensions.

Thats one thing about 'economies of scale' - the servos and motors might get more expensive as you go smaller but the batteries sure don't!

Why launch at 80%? I've noticed a few people do this, always had me confused... Without the torque from the prop, edf's don't roll at low speed...?

They can torque, but I've never really had a problem thats been caused by the model itself. The reason you need to launch at high throttle settings is because EDF's generally have poor thrust charachteristics compared to prop powered models. You also need to get up to speed quickly or you will find it very ahrd to control.

As an aside, I've been reviewing the thread and have ordered some Flightmax 500 2-cells to go with the 350's I've also got coming. I figure I can use the lot between a few models I have as well as for the MiG-15... plus I didn't see the reports of larger batteries being used earlier!

the high throttle makes sense, I don't go without 100%, even with my F16 (ask Nitro about chucking that one!)

Sorry I misunderstood, I thought you meant 'as opposed to lower' but you meant you always launched at full throttle. Yes, I usually launch at full throttle. What I was trying to get at was some people think launching at half to 3/4 throttle is fine for these small EDF's, when in actual fact you need either full throttle or very close to it.

mine's still "processing".

I even re-kitted my micro A10 today, "just to get to the gear". Yeah, that's my excuse. Let's run with it!

Well now I have a ready to run fan for it! 100w on 3s 610mAh. Hopefully the batt will fit... Any ideas on if these are EPS or EPO?
