The 500 is not going to cut it. The rest of the 35mm twins on 3s and 3 blade fans draw 14.7 amps. I use an 800 mah 30C or 40C pack. The problem is the A10 fuse is too narrow to accept my 3s packs. You might be able to get by with a pair of 370-450 packs wired in parallel in order to get them to fit. If I remember correct, you need around 62g of weight minimum in the nose (all the way forward) in order to get the cg right. Heavier battery weight could be moved rearward to keep the cg correct. With a 2 800 mAh 40C, I had to add 14g of lead in the nose. With a 2s 1000 mAh the lead gets removed, so a pair of small 370 65C or so lipos would probably be just right. Figure each 3 blade fan will draw around 7.4 amps.

Hey guys, my F-86 seems a little sluggish especially in wind. Will it really help that much if I pull the gas tanks off? I don't want to pull them off if it won't help that much.

Yes it will help and the landing gear as well if your using it. These things create drag and it does not take much to slow down these small edf jets.

Really? Thanks for the tip, so what about motor life with 3s? how many mah 3s will fit? Are you getting your batteries from hobbypartz or hobbyking? Or where?

My pusher Mig 29 is much lighter than my twin EDF setup. I am running the pusher on a 3S 360 mah battery and it gives 6-7 min of flight time.
Because it is lighter, it also gets blown about by the wind more.

That's where the gyro comes in. It makes a big difference when flying in the wind. The gusts don't roll the airplane anymore, so the plane holds the bank angle in a turn very well.

On a heavier twin EDF setup, i think the stability gain from the gyro will be lesser. I really don't know if the gains will be worth the effort

The stock esc won't work though, you'll need to replace with a 10A hobbywing or turnigy plush (hobbywing). With the 3 blade impeller, I get about 7.4 amps draw on a 3s lipo. Don't know about the 5 blade, I need to take a reading. 3s is the way to go on these. I fly the Mig-15, F-86, F-18, F-15, Mig-29 on 3s, only the A-10 is on 2s.

The 2s 200mah 15C I have barely fits in my F-86. How are you guys fitting these other batteries in? Any pics?

I`ve been running my SA 35mm on 3s 450mah 65c Nanos. One does about 10a with the 5 bladed rotor. The other seems like a higher kv. It does 11.5a with the 3 blade rotor on it.

It`s a pretty awesome little motor/fan on 3s. Oh, I`ve also measured thrust at 130g.

Something sounds goofy with that. It would be worth measuring the rpms.

I think the esc was bad. It gave out this weekend. Was wasting amps.

i have the nano f-86....well i use a DX7, i fly mine on low rates 70% and +25 expo

not really twitchy, but it still turns pretty quick & easy

if you got a BIG area to fly....you could go as low as 50% low rates , +35 expo until you get used to it
