KP32mm EDF Unit

This is what's going next in my Mig-15. Specs as folllows:

Bore diam: 32mm
Outside diam: 33.5mm
Length 47.5mm (71.2mm with bellmouth intake, which is removable)
Weight incl motor: 26.5g.
It has a Feigao 7350KV motor. Can looks to be 30mm long.

Manufacturers tests:
2S 350mAh: 6.73V 4.1A 68g thrust
3S 400mAh: 9.91V 7.8A 130g thrust

Those tests are probably on older Lipos, as there looks to be some voltage sag. my readings should be higher on modern packs (using 325mAh 65C TP).

Has anyone weighed the the stock unit? Interested to know how it compares.

Will update once tested.

Spoilerons will decrease lift and require that you fly faster to stay in the air. You should try flaperons. They will be just as effective at increasing drag, and will lower the stall speed a little. Watch for tip stall though!

Flew my F86 again yesterday, second time, still as much of a rush. The first flight bender from 30m doesn't seem to have affected it. Found a nice new field which gives me a much better angle for landing the plane on and so got in some nice landings. Saved the flare right until just on the grass, sweet. Got a loop and some rolls in so feeling comfortable with the speed and size. Flying around 50% throttle mostly, will wait for a wind free day to try WOT passes...

@angelo I think I get what you're saying and we're just using different terminology/syntax. The flight yesterday was perfect for me, I wasn't thinking about dialling in any rudder at all, so it was just technique I think.

@miketre Damn! That A-10 gets off the ground quick!! I notice with your spoilerons it seems to sit nose up, surely if you went flaperons you could do that classic A-10 tank killer, nose down, cannons blazing low pass? Like this...

Spoilerons decrease lift at the same AOA, but can allow for a higher AOA without tip stall, thus increasing lift & drag and allowing for a slower, stable flight speed.

You only have to "fly faster" if you maintain the same AOA... so you increase the AOA to compensate.

not sure if I mentioned this - I could not get airborne from the runway on 2S. The fixed gear does not track straight the plane will hit the grass on the left of the runway.

@fly time - It felt exactly how UNGN described - higher AOA for slower flight.

Lol! I know! The Mig29 flies beautifully slow, while the A-10 will tip stall before it reaches that speed. So i thought I'd leave the slower setup as it is. However, I may do a temporary swap of ESCs and grab some videos just to see how it is like.

wow that A-10 is darn fast. need spoilerons, flaps, add a full load of scale missiles, bombs, landing gear legs, etc. need to weigh that sucker down. maybe it needs retracts. anyone make 35mm edf re-tracts yet?

Can the A-10 and MiG-29 do rolls? loops? hows the vertical climb out power?
and when does the MiG-29 get thrust vectoring?

Dunno but I'm keen! Saw some cool little ones made out of lite-ply, I assume for indoor models, so it's possible. Would love retracts!

Yes, the rotor I have on the stock fan right now is a clipped GWS 40mm with 3 blades removed. The larger outrunner has all 6 blades.

will this 12a esc's work for 3s on the A-10 & MiG-29?

Rolls are no problem at all.
My mig29 on 2s can't do loops, it would stall going up.
Never tried a loop on the A10 on 2S. I think it should be able to.
A10 on 3S goes vertical and opens up the flight envelope. Immelmanns, split S - but the camera man lost the tiny plane on the viewfinder.
