I would put it in between the mechanical switch and the ignition.

I have yet to fly mine with any witnesses. We have a Spring Fun Fly this weekend so maybe some video this weekend. It is surprising how few videos there are of Sbach's on YouTube.

How are you all getting past the dle 30 sticking an inch farther out the the distance from firewall shows?

That is strange. With the DLE 30, mine has about a 2 or 3mm clearance from spinner backplate to cowl. I wonder if they changed something since I got mine in October..? It seems that this plane was built for that DLE 30.

On a separate note, I got some crazy knife edge spins, tumbles, flat spins, and other gut wrenching aerobatics happening with mine this past weekend. I can't say it enough. I LOVE this airplane.

My manual shows the distance needed from firewall to spinner backplate is 130mm which comes up to 5.12 inches the dle manual specs shows from standoffs to spinner is 160mm (6.37) and shorter standoffs would not work with the rear carb

you may have to cut a hole in your firewall.

Does anyone have the carb cutout template I was told it was available online but can not find it no where

Flying mostly electrics lately has made me bad at landing. I flew the Sbach today for the first time in a few weeks. I got about six flights in before breaking the prop on a bad landing. I need to shift the Rx batteries forward since it is still slightly tail heavy. It would porpoise a bit when I tried to fly it level. This also made it a challange to land. Overall though it flies very well. It actually reminds me of my 70" Revolver. It does feel much heavier in the air than my 60" electric Extra 300.

Where do you guys have your CG set? I'm at 5.25" and it still feels a tad tail heavy.

I have not gotten to fly mine in a while. mine was somewhat tail heavy, as it would balloon on landing. On the next flight, I plan on adding another 2s Lipo battery (in parallel) to bring the CG forward a little. I am not sure how far back from the LE it was, but I know it was slightly behind the wing tube. I have a Precision Aerobatics Extra MX that I practice with, and I was having some of the same problems with tail heaviness. I moved the batteries to attain a neutral CG and it flies much better now. I am hoping that moving it a little forward on the Sbach will eliminate the ballooning, but if it doesn't, the plane still flies awesome and the landings are something I can get used to.

I added a little up thrust and it no longer balloons on landing. Now I need to fix the engine fading issue when I'm exiting a banked turn.

You may have a weak meter spring in your carb. Thats one of the signs, that an flying inverted.

A guy on another forum suggested checking the metal screen in the carb. I'll also check the filter in the clunk.
