Can anyone attest to the better sim for helicopters? I'm weighing RealFlight 5.5 against Pheoenix 3.0. I want to use my DX6i in any sim I use & I plan on upgrading to a DX8 that I'll want to use as well. I know I can use a different Tx with Phoenix. Do I have to use the Interlink controller with RealFlight? If so, is there something like a "pass-through" mode that I can enable and plug my DX6i into the Interlink for use?

You can also use a real TX with RF. It seems many people prefer Phoenix for helis, and they prefer RF for planes. You'll be able to edit physics for anything to a much greater degree with RF than Phoenix. There also are many more aircraft available for RF than Phoenix. It's possible to create your own models in RF.

Anyone with Comet experience tried the DH 88 in expansion pack 8? I'm curious if it's close to the way an actual Comet flies or not.

If it's not close, you can edit it yourself to fly just as yours does.

Yeah I figured that. Trouble is I haven't flown mine yet. Was just curious if the sim is close to a particular model or not. It does not seem to have as vicious a stall as most say the DH 88's do...any of them.

Even real models can fly differently from each other. You and I could set up identical models and have 2 vastly different flying models. Which one is right? It's a matter of preference. Which one should RF mimic?

Yup, I understand that. But there are known issues with the stall characteristics of the comet's wing due to it being very narrow at the tips. If you watch videos on the web, you'll see a good many who have had bad stalls near the ground when slowing down too much or pulling up too soon during takeoffs and landings. The sim does not do this AT ALL, the model lands and takes off like a heavily loaded, thick, straight winged plane.

Now, I have no problems with fast, wheel landings, I have other planes that require this. But, I did buy the expansion pack for this exact model.

I ask again, does anyone here have Comet experience that can attest to the accuracy or inaccuracy of expansion pack 8's Comet?

I ended up going with RealFlight 5.5. One of the RC Heli LHS recommended it to me & let me try it at his shop. He was really cool, even gave me some exercises to work on & come back to him when I perfected them. I learned a long time ago that I'd rather give my $$ to someone with experience in the hobby over someone with experience running a store. One doesn't always equate to the other.

I think you'll like Real Flight, it runs smooth and seems to have pretty decent physics. Always good to find someone willing to help, especially someone with experience. Less and less frequent these days. None of the hobby shops around here is worth a crap, but the internet makes the world a small place.

Phoenix is the best heli sim around. Realflight maybe a little better for fixed wing.
