HET 6404 accepts 28mm motor and comes with 3mm and 3.17mm collet. I have them in stock (USA located)

Didn't say they were cheap Pav

But if you want the hottest Stinger on the block- one of these and a HET 1W30 will probably get you there. You'd want a really good 4S 2200 battery though

Don's option of a HET 64 is more to my liking.

anyone else tried the space shuttle launch with or without success?

I'll try mine this weekend if the weather is good. I doubt I'll be successful, considering the strength of the throw i need to give for a successful hand launch.

Miketre... when I tried to stand my Stinger on its exaust cone, I found that the horizontal stabilizers extend about one inch past the tail cone. It is impossible for mine to sit on its tail cone. How did the one in the video do it?

I just ordered a RC Lander 64mm 3900kv Red Velocity setup for the Stinger.

I figured with a 60amp HW ESC I can start with it on 3s with a mild bump in performance over stock and always have the room for even more on 4s!

I can't wait!

Well, I tried it just now and was also unable to make it rest straight up.

Can I suggest that you drill holes through the plastic skids on the bottom front and rear so you can put a rod through them like we did for model rockets. That will enable it to stand vertical and also keep it tracking straight for the critical first couple feet.

No probs in the grass (see pic), but it does lean slightly on a hard surface.

I'm pumped to get my Stinger in the air this weekend. Just curious as to what you guys are running as far as D/R and Expo on your surfaces.

I have triple rates so I was thinking:

Ailerons: 60, 70, 80% with +20, 30, 40 Expo
Elevator: 65, 75, 85% with +5 ,10, 15 Expo
Rudder: 65, 75, 85% with +5, 10, 15 Expo

IDK how sensative the elevators or rudder is?

Ive flown the stinger once more yesterday. it had been inactive for quite sometime..
I wasgoing to try the nasa launch but it was too windy and it was pushhing the plane down to it's LG

Would this power setup be any better than the stock setup?

I have this EDF combo laying around from an old project so I don't know if it's worth the effort to swap it out.
