Mr. Beaver- i call him :D

My first ever ARF (and first float plane at that , after a streak of foamy madness which lasted my whole rc career up til now. Behold my E-flite beaver, nothing new, eflite floats and a different water rudder set up than the stock cable, which seemed to want to bend when ever it could, and made my first floaty flight very complicated with almost no control in the water. now this is my new set up with a servo directly controlling the water rudder, but worry not my fellow hobbiests! the cheap servo is highly water sealed, with a lot of vaseline in the gear compartment and the whole outside coated with a generouse share of 30 min epoxy , have not tried it out yet but ik it will perform. The plane did NOT come with straps to mount the floats to the fuse, but nothing a little enginuity cant fix some layers of ply and 30 min epoxy (u can tell im in love with this stuff rite?) and it's solid as a rock. hoping for vids after the next long weekend

Eggplantparrot...thats some name you got there...i started to use Eggs or something but then thought...well i dont think i like it when people call me Shermee (sherman)..anyway..lol The plane looks great. I have been checking this thread out for sometime as i am leaning towards getting a float plane..just havent found anything that "talks to me" yet.

But as i mentioned your build looks great!!... Especially the made up wood mounts..put in a little effort there heh?!..

Cant wait for the vids.. What is the wingpspan on that? Did you get the plane and floats at the same time?

Thanks

Stiks..

Eggplant, Nice work! But before you put that bird in the water, did you waterproof all electronics with Corossion X? If not, I highly recommend it! Check other threads in this, Waterplanes forum.

HK DHC-2 Beaver on floats

I'm building a Beaver float plane for my friend. I'm just about finished with it.
He had a set of HZ Super Cub floats so I threw those on there pretty easily actually. They look like they'll work pretty well.

I can't wait to see the maiden flight.

I may very well get one of these for myself. Maybe add flaperons into the mix to help grease in those water landings.

Looks great Eggplant. I went the same type of route with my water rudder. Mounted a servo on the float. I went down to the hobby shop and bought a servo designed for ground use. It's from Traxxas and they sell it as a waterproof servo. Guess it's made for an off road mud runner.
Seems to be working very well so far. Haven't got a pic to post for you though.
We have a float fly in the morning ..... I'll try to remember the camera.

Four Star

Well it is not ready yet, but here are the floats I will be putting on my fourstar. I have been painting coat after coat of sealer, but I think they are almost there.

Nice. I got my 4* ready to go yesterday and put it in the water and the tail was loose, so I will need to glue that and get some wood blocks to support it better. I will try to remember the video camera for the floats maiden.
