That may work for you, but when I balance my Goldberg Cub or my Great Planes .60 size Cub with the full length(90") wing the same with floats as wheels, on floats they are horribly touchy at elevator control. They fly tail heavy.
I add nose weight and balance it nose down and it settles down into the Cub that I know and love.
Great Planes even shows two different positions for their CG on the .60 Cub. The plane on wheels is at 4 1/2 inch back from the leading edge. With floats the CG is forward of that at 4 1/4 back from the LE of the wing.
I still think the curve at the front of the floats are generating liftand making the plane fly tail heavy.
Just for an example: The Goldberg Cub with Plane Fun Floats from Ralph Smith. I balance it in the exact samt location as I do with wheels. Then I add a heavy brass spinner with a crankshaft weight behine it to get it to fly like it should.
Without the weight, it will snap out at the top of a loop and it's really hard to land because it wants to snap when I give it elevator to flare(flair?) to set the tails of the floats down first,
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but that's how it works for me.

She has an Eflite Power 46 swinging a 14x7 prop, a Castle Creations ICE 75, powered by a nanotech 4S4000. FAB-U-LOUS combination

PS. Just saw this for anyone interested in a Saratoga. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1621001

I made the scale mounting skirt for the wing tip floats on the PBY. I used styrene and made tunnels for the wire to travel through then I glued them together and slipped them over the wires and now they have a scale look. I am going to try and maiden her this coming weekend if the lake is not frozen.
