Here are a few of pictures of my last rebuild. I crashed my son's airplane, a scratch built form plans Kadet JR. O.S. .25 with a 9/6 prop for power. Tried to force it off of grass and did not have the needed airspeed. Tipped stalled violently and DESTROYED the fuse. The wing and tail feather suffered nothing more than getting dirt and grass on them. So I made a new fuse and wooden cowl. I kept the original paint scheme. It is set up for both land and water.
In the wet configuration I put Super Tiger 34 on it and then use 10/6 prop instead

I'm pretty new to float flying, my first attempt (aside from a circuit with my buddy's Twin Otter this past spring) was this past weekend at our club's float event. I maidened my FMS Cessna 182, to which I added Sea Commander foam floats. These floats are foam core sheeted with balsa. I sealed the wood with Crystal Clear Krylon, then covered with Oracover and sealed that with clear nail polish. Seems to have held up well! I had two turnovers (crosswind and chop) and a lockout dive into the water (soggy receiver) but the model survived it all, and at the end of the day taxied up to the shore.

In the video are also some Parkzone Trojans on floats, my buddy's Twin Otter, a profile foamy biplane on floats that look like skis, and some boat action. A great day flying!

That is what has happened to my alpha 40 the last couple of times. I got it fixed now though.

I built this little Herr Engineering Piper J3 Cub (35") kit last winter and finally got it on floats. Great little plane that's a very smooth flyer. Removed most of the dihedral and added ailerons to the wings. Made a battery hatch in the bottom for easy access. The floats are scaled down from a set of Great Planes floats I have on another plane. The floats are foam core construction. I hollowed out the foam to save every gram. The plane with the battery and floats came in at 12.5oz. I used some MonoKote covering I had laying around which added a shocking amount of weight. Next time I won’t be so cheap and get some ultralite covering. Still, it fly’s nicely even in a little wind. Likes the rudder to turn though.

A very inspirational video! There is something I really like about watching a float plane roll.

Also, nice video editing. And the director of photography gets extra credit for fixing the focus and keeping the plane in frame.
