*** HN Extreme restoration with Alvaro Corzo ***

This is our latest collaboration. An HN Extreme 1 x carbon reconditioning project. I picked this plane up from a local racer here in So Cal in not beater condition but allot of small bumps and bruises and general deferred maintenance. The original build was very tight and airworthy but I decided to redo the cockpit also because it is layed out by the factory so well (all models should be this nice). The airframe had several areas that had pressure scratches that needed to be fixed and painted in order for the plane to look fresh again. I designed a paint scheme that would cover all the affected areas and not have to touch any areas that are "as new". This one turned out to be one of my favorite restorations yet. Thanks to Alvaro Corzo for his amazing bodywork and painting skills.

let DG 800 retro

A few of you have owned Let models,
this is a retrofit of a "knuckle hinge" system to replace
the standard Oracover "tape hinge" on the wings.
These models are truly beautiful and very well made, but
sooner or later the hinge will peel.

When finished the surface of the wings will appear like glass !

I sharp softball sized rock in the LZ. The funny thing is that I land in near the same spot every time and the rock was a unfortunate new addition

Happy New Year, Alvaro!

Guys, if looking at the pictures here in this thread have not convinced you of his focus on quality and attention to detail, let me add that Alvaro is also a heck of a nice man and someone you'd want as a friend. I cannot recommend him and his work highly enough.

The ASH 26 above in post #84 now lives in my fleet and each time I take it out of the trailer it attracts a crowd of lookers. It's also highly visible in the air.
