SOAR F3K Qualifier Aug 27 and 28 2011, Plainfield, IL
Due to a conflict with an OVSS contest I've moved the contest date from Aug. 20 - 21 to Aug. 28 - 27. All other details remain the same. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
This will be two 1-day contests and SOAR has registered the
contest to be a team qualifier event.
Registration opens at 8AM each day. Pilots meeting will be at
8:45AM on Saturday and 8:30 AM on Sunday.
No round will begin after 3PM on Sunday.
Awards will be given to the top three both days.
The entry fee will be $15 per day, $25 for both.
Weather permitting we will have a barbeque on the field Saturday night.
We will be flying on our Central Sod South Side field. It is
located on Rt. 30 and 111 St in Plainfield, IL.
Click on the link "South Side Flying Field" for the location.
No pre-registration is required but I would like to have a
pilot count for our Master Chef/Supreme Leader.
So if you're interested in flying with us let me know here (include your frequency) or send me an email:

This event is on my short list. I would like to make it, but free time is not so free for me this year.
I'll keep you posted

I hope you and the rest of the Michigan group can make it. We have a great field (and a great cook for Saturday). It'll be a good time.

Same weekend as OVSS Dayton dude!
Will have to see how far back in the standings I am by that point. Not off to a good start.
Do you have latitude/longitude coordinates to field, it is different from SOAR South field in recent years, right?

An OVSS stud like you can afford to miss one contest to beat up on mere mortals. Stop over-compensating and fly something smaller.
The website will be updated with the location soon. (Pat Crosby is distracted with that other F3X event). The field is the same one where we hosted the F3J team select; Route 30, and 1/4 mile south of 111 th. street in Plainfield, IL.
Hopefully the date will work out for most and, if our luck changes, the weather will stabilize by then (unless the Cheeseheads decide to bring wind again...).

It seems somepeople are still confused. NO, It is not on the same weekend as the Dayton OVSS which is Aug 20,21.
The SOAR F3K hand launch contest is being MOVED to AUGUST 27,28 the following weekend for that very reason.

I'm there. 2.4GHz.
Is this a different field from last year's handlaunch contest? I'm not seeing the death valleys and barn sink generator in the google map.
