RC Lander T-33 build thread

My Thunderbird has arrived.

A short video of the kit parts and a few goodies that will be going inside.

I had a little fun with my video editing program

RC Laner T-33 (1 min 44 sec)

First a good business alert goes out to Max at Parkrcmodels.com for their excellent service. You price out your custom T-33 how you want it, from fully loaded to bare bones. You get update e-mails through the entire process. Parkrcmodels.com makes you feel like your order is the most important order in the world, and that was kinda cool.

OK on with the build.

A big box arrived on my doorstep, I unpacked everything and it all arrived in great shape.

Here are a few pics of the parts layout along with some of the goodies that will go into this beast.

A nice touch was the included spare canopy and the touch up paint witch was re packed in a separate baggie by Max at parkrcmodels for extra safety from leaking.

From watching the early videos of the prototype one thing I noticed was the wings appeared to flex somewhat in those early videos.

It appears RC Lander has fixed that issue from the early test models. The wings that arrived in my kit are VERY solid and appear to have been significantly reinforced. Good job RC Lander on that one.

I ordered mine with flaps and retracts and also gear doors all installed at the factory. I left out the speed brake option, but I can add it later if I wish. Mine is the foam version, the PVC coated one I think I read is coming out in July??

Step 1 in the instructions is to lower the nose gear. The gear door set up came out very nice. The doors have soft spring loaded hinges so they stay open. A flick of the gear switch and the doors started to open and the gear come out nice and scale. Going up was the same way. The factory did a nice job in adjusting the doors. I have set up gear doors before and they can be labor intensive and a pain in the #% .
it's nice to have that work all done for you.

Off to work for now, dang this trying to make a living thing sure does get in the way of building planes doesn't it

more building on Sunday and Monday the ever valued days off.

P.S. I may stop using the term "build" for this kit as it appears all the hard work has been done for me. i think "assemble" may be a better word for this one.

Although I've found the various components individually on other websites, has anyone found a retailer selling the T-33 with different fan options, specifically the 120mm rclander fan? I know the kit should have an adapter for the larger fan, but no one seems to be selling the fan with the kit. I think I'll be waiting to see some of your flight reviews anyways before I buy, I keep coming up with excuses to save me from dropping so much $$.

I am always guilty of this one: I like to piece the parts together to see how it looks..I can never wait to see the plane unfold as it is put together.

The true size of the plane becomes evident when all it's parts are placed together..

I also figured out why the wing is so strong..it has TWO steal rods running the length of each wing panel. I also noticed it appears the proper dihedral has been incorporated in the wing. That was another thing I noticed in the early prototype videoís was the wing didnít seem to have dihedral. Looks like that has been fixed.

Vhannah : not sure on your 120mm question, maybe one of the vendors can answer that one.

Great looking plane there. I've heard great things about ParkRcModels. So how quick are they on their shipping? 1, 2 months like some others here? Or are they pretty quick?
