QUADRINO - Ready-to-Fly Flight Controller - Arduino Compatible with 10-DOF IM

The Quadrino Flight Controller is a ready - to- fly alternative to the complicated process of gathering the many separate pieces required to make a MultiWii multi-rotorcopter

The Quadrino includes the Arduino micro-controller, Gyro, Accelerometer, Barometer, Magnetometer and on-board usb interface. Plugin your radio receiver channels and ESC motor wires and you are ready-to- fly.(1)

The Quadrino supports all MultiWii features such as auto-level mode (acc mode), heading hold (mag mode), and altitude hold (baro). There is a cheaper alternative that removes the magnetometer and barometer.

WIRING THE QUADRINO

The following icons are used on the PCB to indicate the type of signal. These icons make wiring in the field simple even without this datasheet.


THE RECEIVER
The Quadrino YPTR header is used to connect to the radio receiver.
If a PPM decoder is used, the THROTTLE pin become the PPM input



If you have a 5 or more channel receiver you should wire one AUX channel to the mode pin. This allows the control of flying mode via the transmitter. You can use a 2 or 3 position toggle on the transmitter to switch between acrobatic mode accelerometer mode, and enabling of the barometer and magnetometer sensors for heading and/or altitude hold.



MultiWii copters can change into various flight modes. The activation of each sensor determines how the MultiWii will fly.
ACCELEROMETER Provides auto-level flight. The copter will maintain a level pitch and roll when the transmitter controls are in their default position. Before use, the accelerometer must be properly calibrated.
MAGNOMETER Maintains the same heading counteracting any yaw drift. This is a nice feature for beginners who are busy concentrating on controlling the pitch and roll of the copter. The mag sensor will keep the copter pointed in the same direction from takeoff to landing.
BAROMETER When activated this sensor will keep the copter at the same altitude within a small amount of error. This works best in low wind conditions. Activating the barometer close to the ground can cause greater error as the backwash from the rotors contribute to the pressure on the sensor




CONFIGURING THE MODE SELECTOR
The picture shows the controls within the MultiWii config program
that configure how the mode switch (the AUX1 or AUX2 channels) map to the various flight modes. By toggling the state of the white squares you can map the state of the AUX pin (Low, Mid, or High) to which sensors are made active

Supply voltage is 5v-6v maximum. NEVER attach 12v power to any part of the board. Use Nylon screws. Metal screws and posts will effect sensors especially magnetic based devices.

Settings information:

The following steps were made to prepare the stock MultiWii code for the Quadrino ADV board:

1. Define your appropriate MINTHROTTLE depending on your ESCs
2. Choose multicopter mode: TRI, QUADP, QUADX, Y4, Y6, HEX6, HEX6X
3. Enable 400kHz i2c mode (I2C_SPEED = 4000000L)
4. Enable the following config defines:
ITG3200
BMA180
BMP085
HMC5883
5. Uncomment MOTOR_STOP. (This is our recommended setting.)

The only thing that i`m missing is the 4 bl ctrl on the back side....its enough space on it.
To make a small one with some extensions to mount a small motor with 4x2.5 on it.
That would be perfect...

GUI explained :










The Quadrino AVD will have all the sensors neat and clean on the board.



Here is a "basic" quadrino . (older picture too . all printing is white on the basic boards now.) ...with do IT YOURSELF upgrade with compass and barometer . This can be done one sensor at a time as you feel like you want to add more . PLEASE NOTE!!! the advance option has all the sensors flat and neat from the factory! These extra boards showen in this picture are only needed for basic boards that are to be upgraded at home!

This looks very sweet, I am considering a purchase.

Questions...What do you do for sensor vibration?? Are you mounting the board solid on your quad? Can we see a flight test clip?

These sensors can take some vibration.

Just make sure your props are balanced and motors shafts are not bent, and you should be good to go.

you can add some Rubber Grommets if wanted, But should not be necessary. Mounting the board solid on your quad is ok, I am using super simple stand-offs.

I have the new Quadrino board on my quad, and it works as advertised. it is a night and day change from the old Wiiadrino boards. and very easy to setup. I will be posting videos this weekend.

witespy, that's a really clean quad you have there
BTW have you try the magnetometer? Some (not all) users (mine works OK) for the Jussi's FFIMU (which has the HMC5883L) have problems with the magnetometer. Could you please try it with multiwii dev0508? Don't fly it, just look at the value of the mags, if there are constant 500 or -500 then the mags are not OK. Thx.

Mine should be here tomorrow. So it looks like all the ESC's are only signal wires and one or more of the board to ESC connections are signal pin only?

The all the mags I have tested work very well, the value changes and look very smooth on the GUI. Will post a clip.

Not understanding 100%. Each speed controller has there own Pin. You only need the signal wire if your powering the board with a BEC .

I do not power the board with all my ESC's, but you can no worries.

I power all my FC's with one BEC.

BUt you can just plug in all you ESC into those pins, No problem

no ground loops this way..

The pins can also be connected at the bottom of the board if you wish.
