New ST Models FW190-A From Ripmax (HobbyStores)

Today I purchased a nicely detailed/scale FW 190-A which is made by ST Model, available from Ripmax (HobbyStores), in the UK.

The Model boasts some nice scale looks and comes complete with fitted servos and a brushless motor and ESC.

Here are some specifications............

RRP 125.00 approx

Length 995mm
Wing Span 1130mm
Wing Area 21.3dm
Wing Loading 46.5g/dm
Flying Weight 990g

Requires a 11.1 Volt Lipo.

The models key features are sturdy scale retracts and wheels with sprung oleo's. A very nicely detailed office including main panel, side panel graphics, joy stick and pilot seat. Unfortunately the model comes without a pilot. The lack of pilot can be easily fixed

The prop assembly is very nice, I like the rotating fan blades on the back plate of the spinner which will be great for ventillating the battery and ESC.

The decals are top notch with the German insignia being painted onto the wings.

The model features flaps and a sturdy steerable tail wheel. There is no work to do on the ailerons or flaps, it's simply plug and play!

Having run the motor I can confirm it sounds great with that fan on the front and has bags of thrust.

I hope to get the plane flying soon. I need a pilot and want to do some weathering on the model with paint and a Tamiya weathering kit.

The stabiliser will be stiffened using some carbon rod, apart from that everything appears quite solid. My model has a few dinks in the wings etc which can easily be fixed with some light balsa filler.

I will post some shots of the retracts in the down position later. The retracts need a servo slower because they do retract and extend smartly.

The foam has a nice finish which I think will take well to customised painting.

I am not sure what the specifications of the motor and ESC are at this time, I will let you know once I have done some investigating. For the price, this bird will hopefully will deliver a good "bang for the buck", we will wait and see........

Yours aye

Charlie

More detail

Here is a little more detail. The ailerons and elevator have these little scale tabs. I guess they say , "Dont Push" in German. Nice touch!

Some more photos..........

Here are a few photographs of the retract units and extended flaps. The landing gear appears to need gravity to extend. They will not retract upside down.

Hi TW,

Just one retract for the gear, by default the gear and flaps are connected by a Y lead with two Futaba plugs, these could be separated to individual channels.
My wires were connected up incorrectly from the factory, the aileron servo wire was connected into the Y lead for the gear, easily sorted...

Nice model chuck, looks very nice in outlines etc.The retracts look very scale like too.
Did you buy that at the Chelmsford store by any chance?

Price isn't too terrible!

TW,

They are advising 3s 2100mah on the box, there is certainly plenty of room under the hatch, (I will post a picture of the battery opening later, I just forgot to take a picture). They say on the box that there is an option for a more powerful brushless motor and 36A ESC. My friend applied full power with the plane held vertically, it really wanted to go up! I am sure there is plenty of power with the included set-up. The ESC has no spec/labelling on it.
