Thats a good analogy...Thanks Robert

Well I talked with Rob Lynch this evening, he knew the answer right off the bat as it has happened to him..What a super nice guy to talk to by the way..

Turns out my cold batteries hit the LVC, he had it happen at Ejets right after takeoff..He keeps them in a warming bag now when he flies in cold weather.Keeps them at about 85 degrees then puts them in the plane, hasnt had a problem since..Thanks for everyones help..

Hi Guys,

Little bit off topic. But still to do with cold batteries.
When practicing for competitions (F3A) i used to have to fly in all sorts of weather, and cold was one of them. Flying in -8 degrees celcius wasn't great. I know of guys who do fly in a heck of a lot colder climates than me.

Anyway i found my models didn't even have enough power to go vertical in the cold weather. So i purchased a Waeco hot/cold box and modified it.

My modified box will heat or cool to whatever i set the temperature to. The box will hold 4 x 10s 5000mah packs no problem. I heat my batteries to 40 degrees celcius. My batteries start cooking on the drive to the field. And during the flying session. I run it off 12v. Also good for keeping my drinks cool in summer

Makes things a whole lot easier. Very consistent power from one flight to the next.

Very nice Chris. Sure beats carrying them around in my shirt pocket under my coat. Your setup is also probably more accurate than my body heat.

Pablo has a few times, he checks it as baggage. I've used it to ship planes across the country, it's really bullet proof...

TSA will do whatever they want!

Story:
After E-Jets 2009 our departed friend Ralf Dvorak shipped his Bandit (in BVM Bandit jetcase) with him as baggage back to Germany.
Upon arrival Ralf found that the TSA had "inspected" this "missile" on pre-departure scan from the USA. The TSA goons had removed the model, inspected, and re-packed......unfortunately re-packed all wrong......cracked the wings and horizontal tail.
Yes, the case is the best insurance you can get; but it doesn't protect against stupid.

Whenever I ship a plane I use a ground shipping company (Forward Air has been great). Granted, not the best if going to a show and you want it fast but... You can also include batts this way and they are far less likely to unpack, repack and puncture a wing (Ralf told me the same story). Also, I shipped a Fury and a few Bandits and even with $8,500 insurance, the bill was never more than $219 so it's also cheaper...
