Isis - the Lico Look Alike: Maiden Success!

Does anyone know about the Wes-Technik Lico?
http://www.wes-technik.de/English/news.htm

EDIT: The Lico is no longer available so this is now a build thread.

Log Starts on Page 5

It flies quite well (aside from the need for rudder fix).

Wes went out of business a year or two ago. Their main page is gone but their product pages still show up.

It's huge, weighs a ton, and probably costs a small fortune.

If you want to try indoor 3D get an UMX Extra 300 3D:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=EFLU1050
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=EFLU1070

I've struggled for months with an um 4-Site and the Extra is everything it is supposed to be. With only a dozen or so 5 min flights, I can hover for short periods of time and am learning many basic 3D and pattern moves in the same gym where it was a constant struggle to keep the 4-Site off the walls.

Great links, but I am stubborn. If I do not get what I want, I simply recreate it.

If you read the WES info on the Lico you'll see it was made by a modeling company that made other things such as model trains, IIRC. Google that company, and you may be able to get an email where you could inquire if they still make that airframe. The answer is probably no, but it couldn't hurt to ask. It used a Mighty Midget BL motor, which WES was a distributor for. So, I suspect the plane used gear supplied by WES and once WES closed their doors the Lico was no more. I've though for a while that the Licos could be a bit smaller and use a PZ brick and servo and 1-cell motor and be lighter than it is with the conventional RX and servos and 2-cell motor.

In the end you can probably continue with your drawing it up and build your own.

Looks good. I'm not sure if you are trying to replicate it exactly or not. I can't tell from what you've posted. But it looks like your fuselage is not as tall as the Lico particularly the lower side. I think they did that to give a better angle for the struts. I hope you do build one.

I wish I had a friendly laser cutter...

I was thinking:
- ar6400
- ba2.5
- xp-3a
- motor in gearbox (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...207845&page=15)

The German version of the WES website has always had more pictures of the Lico, which may help.

google it and look for the German language site and you will find it. I don't know how to copy a website and pass it here from my iPad. Sorry.

The second link I posted had a good bit of pics.

I got the sides done. All that is left is the nose plate.

...or I can just have the kit machine cut...which is what is happening.

I was thinking of using my AS2000LBB or my AS2000 servos on elev, rudd, and maybe aile. I might use a 2.2g standard servo for aile. I want a light flyer that has power. It has a 20" span. Any ideas for a motor/prop combo? I would really like to keep it 1s.

Gordon,
It may have sounded like I ignored your responses, but I didn't. I looked into all your suggestions. Sorry if it seemed as though I wasn't paying you any mind.

Would anyone be interested in plans for the finished model? It pretty much looks the same. I can shrink it down and/or adapt it to different foam thicknesses.
