That floral foam is:
a) to soft...
b) very hard to remove afterwards...

The cowl now looks more like some unfinished plastered mountain on a rail road diorama, but it at least fits and has the proper contours

I'll give it some black paint this evening and then I have to find me some lead as counterweight in the nose.

After that I declare her finished and ready to fly.

Paint was at hand (not somewhere in the basement), so I gave /tmp/cowl or /dev/tmp_cowl some #000000. It's less plaster-mountain-ish now

Nothing wrong with that cowl, especially for something that is just temporary! Does this mean that a maiden report is in our near future?!? You should be a TV/movie producer! The anticipation for this maiden has me sitting on the edge of my seat!

That's called suspense I believe...

We usually fly at the end of a day, but wind forecasts for this week don't look good. The only flyable weather will be next Thursday morning until about 11:00... With respect to wind. It's probably raining...

But I'm as eager to fly as you are to get the story I guess. Tuesday morning to my LHS (or car dealer) for some lead, balance and pack things so she's ready as soon as the weather is.

Thx

Suspense-break...

No maiden the upcoming week... Wind must be below 5 knots, forecast doesn't show any... At least not during daytime...

That lady mother nature never cooperates when we want it most! This hobby has taught me a bit of patients and cost me a bit of sanity as well!

Unfortunately no updates. The Cub is ready to fly, but I've been very busy with all kind of other things. I hope to get her up in the air soon.

I'm near Hilversum.

Yvo, I just found this thread. Nice build. I'd like to build a 1/4 scale version of the carbon Cub. Were you able to find drawings for a Carbon Cub? In your first post you reference Ed Westwood plans. Are these CC plans? If so, where did you find them? Thanks!

My latest excuse was that long ago ? I had a year with lot of other things to do. No flying anyway. Did buy more planes though...

Maiden will be there eventually, don't know when... But there will be a movie.

Little teaser then. I prepared this movie already. The second half of it, marked as placeholder now, would be the video of the maiden (and more flights when she doesn't crash...).
