Frsky JR Module into Flysky 9X ??

Hi,

I can't find the discussion now, but if I remember rightly there is some difference of opinion as to whether a standard JR module like the Frsky one can be fitted straight into these radios. Can anyone clarify?

The radio I intend to get is the one sold in the UK by Giant Cod ..

FlySky FSTh9B

Thanks,

Read what Giant Cod say in the page you link to:

This unit is intended for use with hack modules only. However opening the unit and modifying it in any way invalidates any warranty.
It requires specialist electronic knowledge to operate and install and is not intended for the novice. A great buy for those wishing to experiment. Please be aware it is sold as described in Bruce Xjet's review (Click here) with all the imperfections as stated in that review and does not contain instuctions. Be sure to read the comments from other users.

Also read what XJet has to say.

The point is that the FlySky module and antenna will need to be removed. After that, the FrSky JR module should fit (though you have to be a bit careful not to bend the pins. The antenna is mounted directly on the FrSky module, so avoids any issues of internal mounting.

If I wanted an FrSky equipped 9x, however, I would use the DIY (hack) module, rather than the JR, and mount the antenna up top. I have a Fly Dream DIY module in mine and it's a very neat setup.

Yes I saw that. I've asked them to confirm, because although they say its suitable only for "hack" modules, their illustration shows the Flysky style rather than Turnigy version, and they even show the module separately with a 2.4GHz aerial on the module and a 35MHz on the set. Clearly there's some contradiction and hopefully I'll get an answer.

Meanwhile what I'm trying to find out is if it truly IS the Flysky style, then will a JR compatible module fit straight in.

ps - their picture actually says "6CH", and their reference to Xjet review points to the review of the Turnigy version, so goodness knows what they are in fact actually selling.

If you want to use FrSky module, JR style, with FlySky TX, you can.
I am using FrSky JR style module on Turnigy TX V1 which is same TX as FlySky except different brand name.

If you are looking for inexpensive TX for 2.4 conversion, here is one.

Thanks,
FRSky, FlySky, Fly Dream, Spektrum, etc. modules are NOT standard JR modules. They merely use the same form factor and three of the five connector pins (+ve, -ve and PPM).

The problem arises with real JR FM modules, which require +6v on a pin that in the 9x transmitter is grounded. None of the other modules needs that 6v.

There's only one plug in module for the JR/9x type: DJT. It has telemetry capability and can be switched between 2-way and one-way.

The previous V8 (one-way only) module has been discontinued.
