found out today that the handgrenadeed falcon had been modified by the supplier - they installed a larger wing joiner. i think they might have cut too much of the structure out of the wing as it looked like the wing failed just outboard of the joiner

:O and it was not even going fast.. I can guess that the owner never really checked his plane prior to flying...
every time I come home after a jet flyuing or some flying that I know I abused ANY of my planes I check everything...

this guy should be one of the BUILD load and go guys...

I was shocked to see that explode during slow flight.

My guess is thats just another one of the mods needed. I suspect(correct me if Im wrong Jester) that the gear wells where not formed and the wings loaded up with air pressure? That combined with the wings creating their most lift when a plane is flying slowly and Snap!!

Sorry for your loss bud. But glad you got video.

you would be correct vettster. the owner is an awesome flier but a builder he is not . but it had survived 154 flights and if you look at our field and runway we fly in harsh conditions. you can be assured mine will be modified to be stronger even if i have to remove the wing covering as some of the photo's i have seen glue must be very expensive where they are made

spyda that wasnt my airframe but yes i have just ordered a falcon from hk for my first turbine. i saw most of the 155 flights of that falcon . it seems like the perfect turbine trainer. going to put a jetcat P70 in it. also scored the retracts out of destroyed falcon which will save me sorting out retract problems as these retracts have been well tested

The only issue from my understanding, ( and I may be full of poop) is the engine was revealed early, before any word from HK.

A mistake basically.

So sit tight. Judge once it's in the field.

The canopy dos'nt sit at all, you have to make your own base and attachment for it, as to just screw it in place like a prop plane is not practical for turbine use.

Check out the Falcon 120 thread on RCU for loads of info and ideas on converting the Falcon/tornado/navycat to turbine use.
