I joined the DX7s ranks today...purchased a new unit at my LHS for a great price (no receiver) that I will use on my Blade 450.

I look forward to continuing to read, learn, and fly :-)

I also purchased a DX7s, and am very happy with it. One feature I really like that some people may not know about is that the timer can be set to start and stop with the throttle, no more forgetting to turn the timer on!!!

Is there anyway to reset the countdown timer without having to switch off the DX7s when using the throttle to control the starting and starting of the timer?

I wanted to buy DX8, but my general impression from various places is that it has many problems. Because of this, I thought I'd go for a DX7s for now. I want to go for DX8 because of more model memory and backlight.

Could you guys help me decide DX7s or DX8? I would really appreciate.

Have the kinks been worked out from DX8? Is it it a good time to buy one? What should I know when I buy a DX8? I am getting a pretty mixed opinions in my search on the Internet.

This is a FANTASTIC time to buy one, especially if you can find one in stock with the extra receiver combo.

I am only aware of one remaining kink that is to be addressed with next Airware. Very easily avoided or worked around and nothing to worry about.
Like mentioned above its a great time to buy with the 2 bonus receivers. You lucky late buyers get all the great deals for waiting.

Problems are resolved with the DX8. I bought one when they first came out with the problems. HH replaced it with a new one last spring and this one has been flawless since.

Getting back into RC after just a couple years away. My last radio was a DX6 right after Spektrum really came on to the scene. I purchased a DX7S a week ago to go along with a new E-Flite Alpha Sport 450 I will be using to teach my girlfriend how to fly. It is a great radio and setting up flaperons on the "no-flap" airframe was simple and straight forward. I too debated the DX8 as I would like to take advantage of the telemetry, but I don't really need it for the trainer and the DX7S is capable of handling it down the road on more advanced aircraft.

ANDY, can i get the 7s with 2 rx's. my model aviation mag ad only showed the DX8 ?

Buy the 8, sell one of the receivers. You'll be in a DX8 for the same money as a DX7s.........and the DX8 is a much better radio.

A much better radio? Do you really need 30 model memory?

Does the DX8 have a "Throttle-Activated Timer Setting"? (the DX7s does)

Is the DX8 compatible with LiPo batteries? (I know the DX7s is.)

Do you really use 3 stunt/flight modes? (the DX7s has 2)

How many people actually use 8 channels?

The only kind of nice thing that I see about the DX8 is the backlit display. (I don't plan on flying in poor light/darkness so that really isn't an issue.)
