Tried 920kv motors with Hobby Partz ESC's and hated it... Extreamly chunky yaw action with about 2 hours of PID tweaking.

Swapped those out for 750KV motors and 18A Hobby King programmable ESC's and it's as smooth as butter!

V.1-7 is rock solid! This, BTW, is just the Wii Motion +.
15" arms - 8x3.8 APC SF CW-CCW props.

This camera is just velcroed to the battery sitting on top. (Sunex GoPro R3)

Testing a new quad... Multiwii V.1.7 - Just the WiiM+ (2 min 48 sec)

So was it the Hobbypartz ESCs or the motors?

Waving back...

My guess is the esc's. I can't tell yet as I didn't make the change one at a time.

Looks rock sold. Just like the tee's
I have just got my first quad going tonight, well it fly's but not as stable as my roughest tee.
I am just running WiiM+ and 1.7 with stock PID'S
I remember seeing a screen shot of one of your quad and I think the P was way up ??
I only have tried the stock setting of 4 so far but would like to know how you went with the PID playing to get yours so stable?
Any tips ??

HI
I tried p of 9 gave it the gitters. I have gone back to 6.5 for R P and Y and it's much better. I think I may have made the arms a little short. The 10 inch props are only 4 inchs apart ..
I have read that the motors need to be spaced far enough apart to allow a gap of 1 prop span or more apart.
Have I gone too small ???
I also need so lights of paint, front side and back all look the same..

No, I don't think you've gone to small. Everyone's PID #'s will be different due to weight, motors, props, CG, etc.... Just keep experimenting with the PID's. I's & D's as well. You should find the sweet spot within 2 batteries.

Thanks Mate
I have Shirka's tip sheet, I will give it another read and have a go with more trimming. I have never had to play with pid's much. Both my Tee's have flown with little mucking around. My smallest one is totally stock 1.7. Even left the rc rate at 90, it's a hoot to fly.

Well 2 batteries later and getting better but not quite there. I am thinking a recheck of prop ballance is required. It flys ok (I will post a video later) but is still no where as stable as my tee's..

More testing...
One day I might fly a plane again but not soon I think
