Build Log
Douglas A-1 Skyraider 32"

Hello Friends,

I've started this build just because I really like this plane, she will not be very scale like but let's go to the build...
The Douglas A-1 (formerly AD) Skyraider was an American single-seat attack aircraft that saw service between the late 1940s and early 1980s. It became a piston-powered, propeller-driven anachronism in the jet age, and was nicknamed "Spad", after a French World War 1 fighter.[2] The Skyraider had a remarkably long and successful career and inspired the straight-winged, slow-flying, jet-powered successor, the A-10 Thunderbolt II ("Warthog").

It will be powered by a Tower Pro 2410 12T, apc propeller 9 x 4.7, 40amp esc, full house (4 channels), wingspan of 32"and fuselage of 22".

I found the plans here on RCgroups, changed some parts to fit in my project and here is where I am right now. Hope you like!

Wildweasel,

Almost makes me want to call in some " snake and nape". Good luck with the build.

Hey hankg,

No problem I'm already buying the 250-lb. Mk-81 Snakeye bombs and 500-lb. M-47 napalm canisters, some rockets and fuel tanks in the park flyers plastic, she will have full load wall-to-wall lol...

Now I'm trying to decide about the paint scheme gray or camouflage... What you think?

Gotta go grey, as were the Sandy's in Flight of the Intruder. That was my favorite airplane movie, and also where I fell in love with the Skyraider.

Hi Nelson

Trying to work in a storage cupboard, do you remember the discussion we had about every guy needs his own place...a basement or workshop would be better than storage. If you get rid of some of Adriana's clothes you could make more more room to build models........only kidding Adriana.

Looking forward to seeing the next pictures.
Andy.

If you go with the grey, you had better have some F-4s flying circles at 20,000 ft to keep the Migs away. Gray really stands out over that triple canopy rainforest...just kidding.

Model looks great...good luck with the first flight.

Hankg

Hankg,

Are you a Mig pilot?
I just bought the ordinance in park flyers plastic, one central tank, 2 napes, 4 snakes, 8 rockets and 2 Mk82 500 Pounds, one clear canopy, pilot and a nice cowl too, now waiting the 141 Starlifter deliver the parts here in my air base...

Andy,
You just gave to Adriana another idea for a video... The idea about someone that don't know nothing is already being prepared...
Hankyg, maybe you are right, as a Mig pilot you know what you are talking, maybe I will wait the paint for the camo version...
Wing just received the Pylons and the central fuel tank.
