Small CG adjustments can always be done with a small weight Velcro'd to the battery or attach something to the motor mount if that end is light. I also use a mix of battery sizes I have on hand and use weights with the smaller ones to keep the balance right.
I put two dots of hot melt glue on the COG line outboard from center. That way I don't have turn it over and look for the ink dots.

Had some time. to work on the wing, and I was successful in getting all controls working. I will now need to put all together real neat, and wait for my charger to arrive. Once I get all neatly together, I will work on the CG, and I ready to fly.

Thank oyu Whirlcap, thank you Bluhammer, and thanks to vparanorma.

I used ar600 rx, rather a orange as I do not want to cut out foam today.

added note:

135-142mm = 5.59 inches, and that brings it just in front of the servos, going to be tricky. I think she will be tail heavy, so adding some weight, if a penny, nickel, dime, washer, to the nose, or in pairs to each side, and with goop no less?

Making a jig, rig, and centering it on the pen points, and placing the weight on top, and then transferring to bottom, will be fun? That is my plan?

I had to relook at the rx, and I got the wires all tucked neatly as can be, just again a canopy to work on? And having only the jst plug out, will be fun.

that is all to report.

LED's and Bomb Drop for 600mm Mini Pop

Hey folks.. TOO many threads to look through so I'm hoping someone could make a suggestion..

I have the 600mm Mini Pop Wing and would like to add LED's for night flying and maybe a bomb drop.

So first.. could someone point me to the LED's that would work for that wing.. I would like to be able to use the 3S batteries I'm using to power them.. either with a Y adapter or by using the balance plug.

As for the bomb drop.. I'm sure I could just mount a servo and plug into the AUX on my RX but wondered what the best route would be for releasing.. since I'm sure many of you have done this..

Thanks in advance for any info!

I just completed lights on my Mini (Bonsai) running 3s last week.
Used the led strips and the balance to jst connector below.
I went with: Bottom - Green Right, Red Left (standard nav scheme)
Top - White and blue (white is the Brightest by far)
I used Foam-Tac to glue them down and dabs of Foam-Tac to hold down the wires and connectors. Hot glue should work just as well and faster.

I would suggest running some strips along the tops of the winglets for even better orientation. I still have to add those on to mine. On my first night flying session, I mildly crashed 3 times. With only top and bottom, when it's flying flat toward you, it gets tough to keep up. You can't see any light at all in that case and your brain has to play catch up when it shows up again. Winglet lights should solve that. I think I'm going with matching green and red on them.

There are solder pads at the ends of the led strings for adding on. Just solder some wire between the long strips and the winglets.

LEDs (of course out of stock right now)

Optional LED strips (would need cutting to length)

Yep, they have the long ones.
The HK 200mm ones worked great on the mini.
You could get the long ones and use the extra length for the winglets.

Here is a video of my flying my popwing at the school yard this afternoon. Be sure to go to youtube so you can up the quality. I tired to catch it in the end, but missed it and hit my wife. No harm was done. It was a "accident"

I like how fast it is. That the mini or regular pop-wing?
What motor / batter / prop combo are you using?

heads up rc powerup zoom 400 with a 40 amp hurc esc, 6 x 3e prop and a 3s 1550 rhino battery. and it is a regular popwing. One thing I have found that is key if you are going to go quick, get metal gear servos.

Thanks for the info, I have a mini which is pretty quick but didn't know ya could get a regular pop wing to reach the speeds you are

Wonder what a mini would do with your set-up?

Thanks Johnny Meg's not a problem. I was thinking for the longest, read up watched your clips and thought I give a crack at the wing. I loved the wing you had. I had to go with the lesser and take a stab at it.

If I was a total noob, pressed for time and more, Johnny Meg's is the one to get, all set up and perfect matched, cannot ask for more

( clearly understandable and legible , personal note)

Update

Maiden completed and posted
