1200 Popwing (10 min 26 sec)

Who says a 1200mm Popwing can't perform. How did you get it to roll so fast? Here is the result of my momentary lapse of reason today. 900mm Popwing on high rates which my skill level, or lack of, was not ready for. This rough landing gave me a chance to move all the electronics to the top of the wing. Got her all balanced out and ready to fly. So far I have deformed two batteries because of them being right where I smack the plane on the ground. They seem to still take a charge. Guess I will find out in the morning if the one I mashed today still works. Again, great job with the 1200mm. Happy flying!

The improvements look good.
Be careful with damaged lipos. They are extremely volatile.
Dispose of any that are mashed more than barely.
All it takes is a crack for air to hit them and a fire to start.

Thanks for those kind words and the warning about the lipos. I paid $30.00 a piece for them at my LHS and then saw the same exact batteries for sale on HK for $8.99. Felt like I was taken advantage of ...just a little. I hope they don't burst into flames while I am flying. Which brings up a good point. After watching plenty of RC craft on fire on YouTube I often think a fire extinguisher should be mandatory equipment at the field. But I am just as guilty as the next guy for not having one. Time for me to invest in one. See you at the field.

+1 on the lipo warning. I picked up an ammo container a while back and lined it with styro foam (probably not the best thing in case of fire) to cushion and insulate the batteries. I keep all my batteries in there, even the little 1 cell ones. There is also room for the charger too.

I've heard it's best not to tighten the ammo can lid down unless you have vents.

That's the story anyway.

Took the wing out for a flight before the breeze started up this morning. Still flies great with no problems out of the batteries. With everything on top of the wing I didn't worry about landing on the wet grass either. Someday when I can fly better I can practice catching it when the pack is empty. Until then, the grass can catch it. With these 2200 mAh packs at WOT I get at least ten minutes of flight and this thing still glides forever. Gotta love em. The Popwings that is. I just ordered another kit from NP. Double the pleasure. Happy flying.

You should try a Mini.
I like it more than the 900mm.
The NP arf is underpowered though.

I plan on getting a mini popwing after a little bit more research on how I want to set it up. At the moment I have a Tech One BF109 EPP that I can't stand the way it flies so the parts are going on the 900mm that has been shipped. I may get the 1200mm also. But I never know what might strike my fancy next. Maybe something with landing gear.

I like fast wings, so here's a video of mine. I'm thinking of getting the 1200mm Popwing and hopping it up a little, that would be cool!

Oh, had not thought about that! Figured a runaway battery would run out of oxygen? Going to have to check into this and find out the facts for sure. Thanks for passing that one along.
