Done most of the mods suggested on this thread, new motor(Park480 from HobbyKing), New Speedy(Plush 40A), not lookin' to do 3D or anything just a sport flyer/acro. will fly with a 9x4.7 to start with, gives me about 260W at around 23ish Amps. Should be enough to get me off the ground.

Replaced all servos, the stocky's just looked a little cheap and nasty for my liking. New control rod setup, re-inforced hinges with a little tape, tightened and lock-tighted just about every nut I could find.

Still on stock landing gear, but will replace as soon as I get a chance to order/build new gear, there are some great ideas for this in this thread, so probably give one of these a go.

Thanks to everyone who posts here, It's been very helpful and has hopefully given me the best chance of having a successful maiden.

I shall report back with the good or bad news soon.

Cheers,

Matt.
Matt, which 480 are you running? KV?

Thanks

I would suggest you look for a turnigy 35-30 1400kv motor and put a 9x5 APC prop on it.

I dont think no mater what you do will it ever do 3d flight. The rudder is just not big enough.

Anyways good luck with it.

I just repaired the tail on mine but i still need to replace the rudder servo. The top plastic covering has also gone missing. Should fly fine without but it will create some drag and i would rather track it down first.
Hi all, the 3530/1400 looks ok?

Sound ok?

Thanks

Ive got the 3530 but it doesnt say this KV, I think its 1100, it was a combo with a 40 amp esc, Im running a 10x4.7 and sometimes an 11. Its hauls ass and goes vertical, not sure if more power will be better

In this thread I think it will tell you the KV of my motor
Hope this helps

my friend is making these, and hes already an established slope glider maker
I think its 60 bucks for a 40" epp profile fuse with airfoiled wing and hardware pack under 16oz or so
the 48 is also great and super light

I've had 2 and I can't for the life of me get the thing to balance...so tail heavy it's just a handful...I'm going to try a bigger motor on the front and hopefully it gets there but yours seams to be pretty balanced...nice maiden.
