I did not weight it but I'm sure it's less than the original one and it's 5.5 cm wheel

It's nice to land on the grass but in the air the performance are also decreased (just a little bit) but the visualisation of the plane orientation is better...

I still have to install the bigger motor and see what flight time I can get.

Is that a bad idea. I am a novice. I want to work my way up to running 3 cells with a different prop.

Will this thing fly OK with the 2 cell????

TIA
Starting out with an aerobatic plain is a bad idea in general. It should fly on a 2s but you will be full throttle for most of the flight.

I am not starting out. This will be my first larger plane. I am currently flying a UM Sukhoi SU26XP with relative ease. My thoughts were that the extra was just a bigger version of that. So, I should have fun with it.

Just worried it wont fly well on 2 cell. I am used to flying at WOT w/ my Sukhoi. So, that wont be an issue.

3 cell

3 cell is the pack you should use! a 2 cell would make the plane fly too slow and you would be fighting the whole time.

A bit more nose up trim needed with the heavier motor up front but thats about it. it also pulls a lot harder to the left because of the extra power being generated. i can now go vertical after take off and keep going forever if i wanted to(and my plane is quite heavy with much thicker aluminium landing gear than stock, and i'm also running a 9x6 prop which isn't made for climbing) all in all, its faster, got far better climb and hopefully more reliable. i'm still using the stock esc, it gets warm but not hot, so i'll just have to keep an eye on it when the weather warms up
this might answer eq45's question about a good combo that will do knife edge. i can knife edge with this very easily, and convert from horizontal flight to vertical whilst in knife edge. its important to have good power, but a 9x6 prop is all that is required to knife edge.i'm no expert but i'm pretty sure krexken is right, a 12x6 would be way overpropped and you will kill your esc. if your still having problems with knife edge try increasing the throws on your rudder. but be warned, this combo does make the stock esc warm

I'v used a 10x5, 11x5.5 and 12x6 prop... once I shimmed the motor bell away from the backplate the motor only gets luke warm and the esc never hits above 130ish

Where is CG of this plane?

Does CG location change when we change landing gear or batt size?

Thanks.

I took the same value as my Eflite SU-26m. The wings are very identical.

90mm - 92mm (1/3 of root which is 275mm)

Down Thrust?

Hi Guys - I am mounting a Turnigy 3536 900KV motor to this plane. Can someone please give me an idea of how much down/right thrust I should put in?

Thanks in advance.
Paul

IMO, it is inside the firewall already this down/right thrust.
So mount it and you should be ready to go

I broke it today while doing knife edges... I think the rudder broke in flight...

The wing is fine
The rudder is broken and the elevator also
the motor is dead and the whole front was bended...

So next step is repair...

with hot water I put back the fuselage so it's not bended anymore.
I put in the howen at 100 C the motor cover but it was too much and now the surface looks like small sphere.

for the rudder and elevator I will use floppy disk to make hinges.

As I broke a clevis, I will order new ones for repair...

I will put the NTM motor I bought the 35-30 1100 kv with a 10x5 prop at first.

Hope to be back in the air soon...
