I'm sure at least one of us can be coaxed into posting some pictures and results.

The tech inspections happen tonight... pilots meeting tomorrow morning at 8AM, round 1 flying begins by 9AM.

Ok, I tried to get some pics. I'm normally behind the sticks rather than the camera, so it was really hard for me to get in-flight shots. Here are some scenes from today:

David Pitcairn launching for Steve Neu.

The duration task area to the West... and pilots returning from the landing circles.

The lap-counting computer at Base A.

Pit area with shade, water and food.

Jeff,

Thank for the results. Seems as if mr. neu is mr. consistancy. 39 legs each time out. How ever congrats to you on your 40 leg run... nice. I wish I could see this live.

One question. Why is there only 1 7 cell competitor? Is there no interest in this class of flying?

Luv the Inernet !

Here I am 14,000 Km away on vacation and first thing I did was to check in and see what was going on. Wish I was there, could'nt change plans, #7 in the rankings :-))))

Good luck to all !

Jay,
I was going to fly in the 7-cell competition with my Smart, but I ended up being one of the Base B judges.

I would say there is interest... but the people who are looking for performance tend to want the best. I normally fly 24-26 legs with my 7-cell Smart. Steve does 30 with his Avionik 7-cell. But the "real" F5B planes are much faster and can do 40+ legs. A guy could find himself feeling a little "inferior" with his 7-cell when he sees one of the big boys go.

David,
Any way you could post the details, such as laps, motor runs on the TD part and landing points?

Actually, you're in luck. The results that Jeff posted are exported from Excel... there are tabs at the bottom of the page to send you from the summary to the individual round results. There you'll find laps, duration score, landing score... raw and normalized total scores and pilot ranking.

See ya!

Its a specialised hobby when even in the USA only 6 participants to try out.
