Introducing the Scirocco--All Molded, All Carbon Pitcheron

Here is a project that has had me busy for the six months or so. First it was learning bladder molding (thanks, Adam). Then to learn the ins and outs of carbon (still got a lot to go on that). Then there was a search for a simpler way to mold wings. That turned out to be a perfect match for the twisty hardware that I make, so out came this pitcheron design.

This plane will fit in an arrow case for travel that will be 36" by 10" by 3". I'm waiting on the foam for the lid....

Amazing! Sure doesn't look cheap though! External antennas for 2.4?

Nice Ward,

.....I like the wave How does the elipitical wing panform work on a twisty? What weight was your CF (might be able to cut down on that 35oz)?

It's a 60" or smaller (I remember you had a limitation on your Mill table x,y).

Ray, it's a 60" plane, although Dc812 is working on a bagged 2M version using the same fuse and twist hardware.

I need to fly the wavespar wing, plus iron out some cosmetic carbon issues, and then I could be persuaded to build a few of these babies if there's a demand.

Chip, so far the elliptical pitcheron I fly has behaved quite well. I'm not sure that a lot lighter would be much better. Dan Dc812 will be bagging up one soon....maybe he will lay up a light one to compare.

Thanks, Jordan. I can't take credit for the concept....the Aris designer thought of it first. However, it does seem super strong. I'm thinking a one piece DS wing!

The best benefit is its simplicity, and that it doesn't need a core.

As a matter of fact, this is the first plane I've ever built with no wood OR foam in it!
