My mod is complete..finally

After some time without doing much because I was waiting for the replacement for the central cross to come, I am very happy to announce I finished the mod

Here you are the results:

AR Drone with miru mod - GustyK version (4 min 8 sec)

Freeflight version 2.0.1
AR Drone: version 1.10.12
mirumod rev 0.17
Orange RX - 6 CH
Spectrum DX7 TX
Arduino Nano

I normally fly with a 3S-1300 mAH battery that gives me 15-20 minutes. For the purpose of this video, I'm using the stock battery.

This combination of software/firmware resolved all the little issues I had. Some of them were:
- Unable to boot up the mod. Need to reset the Arduino several times until finally responded to the DX7 commands.
- Sudden changes of altitude with no reason.
- No connection with iDev.

The only very minor thing is that I don't see any animation by switching from FM_1 to FM_2 and back to FM_1. I haven't investigated enough about it but I don't mind. The Drone flies beautifully. Once again, Thank you miru and all the very knowledgeable people in this forum.

Congratulations!
To get an animation, you have to be in FM2 and shortly switch over to FM1 and back to FM2. Once you switch back to FM2 you have 0.4 seconds to move the aileron stick for the animation you want. You can practice/explore this in SETUP mode, it will show you if you did trigger an animation by showing an ANIM[1,2,3,4] message next to the FM_2.

Flysky fs ct6b transmitter

o precise control of drone
o cheap off the shelf hardware (Arduino Pro Mini or Nano, AR6100)
o started with firmware versions 1.4.6, 1.4.7, 1.5.1, 1.6.6, 1.7.4, 1.7.6
these versions can not be tested any more due to lack of existence in my lab
o tested with drone firmware version 1.7.11, 1.10.10 and 2.1.18
o true 'plug&play', disconnect HW and drone can be operated by iDev
+ no BEC needed
+ uses drone's serial port
+ no surgery of system files on drone
+ no need to make custom kernel for drone
+ prevents iDev highjacking of command port when in use
+ allows access to NAVDATA port for remote monitoring
+ allows access to video port for remote viewing
+ four different 'hot' selectable drone configurations
+ visual low battery alert (VLBA)
+ supports Mode 1, 2, 3 and 4 transmitters

Hardware

1) Drone
2) 5+ channel RC TX/RX, 4 channels for sticks, 1+ switche(s) for land/flightmode1/flightmode2
3) Arduino Pro Mini or Nano 16Mhz/5V
4) Please look at the wiring diagrams to find the parts needed

Software

From what I gather from the net, most people doing this have access to a
Windows box (I have XP) and can download the Arduino IDE (arduino-1.0.zip).

The implementation uses a pair of programs, one running on the Arduino, the
other running on the drone. The drone program is transfered and started by
the Arduino program.

rx2atp - receiver signal sampling and conversion to drone commands

Installation on Arduino Pro Mini, Arduino Nano

'rx2atp' is the program for the Arduino. It does not make use of any
Arduino environment library functions, exept the startup file and the
standard compiler support library, I hope they have not tinkered with...
This project has been tested with arduino-0022/3 and arduino-1.0-win.

Start the Arduino IDE, it comes up with an empty 'sketch', and select
<Sketch><Add File...>. Add the file 'rx2atp.c' from this package and
'Upload' it to the board.

at2so - forwarding drone commands from serial interface to socket

This program is uploaded and started on the drone by 'rx2atp'. It is loaded
into '/tmp' on the drone and does not survive a reboot of the drone.

Modifications to this program are not for the faint of heart. You need a
toolchain for the ARM processor that can generate programs for Linux on the
drone. At this point I use:
arm-2010.09-50-arm-none-linux-gnueabi-i686-pc-linux-gnu.tar.tar
on a Linux box.

Once your TX/RX is setup for the mod you don't have to change anything in the TX if the mod revision changes. I don't have a FLY SKY FS-CT6B, maybe somebody that has it can help.

This sounds odd, can you elaborate some?
(Drone firmware version, iPhone application and version)
Does SETUP mode work properly?

I HAVE AR DRONE2
Drone firmware version 2.1.16
do I need to use a different rx2atp?

I never had firmware 2.1.16, mine is on 2.1.18.
You have to use rev 0.17 of the mod, it handles drone 1 AND drone 2.
Does SETUP work?

What TX/TX are you using?

From Readme Miru file in the DSR017
"On my setup this did not work at first, because
in this situation the AR6100 kept on sending what it received last except for
the THRO channel, which will transmit the value the throttle stick had when it
was bound to the transmitter. To fix this in my setup, I did rebind the AR6100
with a very low throttle stick value (-150%), which fixed this (after putting
the gain back to 100%).
Then turn the transmitter back on and make sure everything comes back to normal."

The FSAF hardware failsafe is NOT enabled by default, you have to do that in the sketch or use the configurator on http://mirumod.tk/tools/sketch_configurator.php
The configurator still references the old A3 input, but the sketch will use the pin labelled 8.

I've just corrected the description in configurator - it is now (D)8.

What app are you using on the iDev? I tested with FreeFlight 2.0 and it did work.
