Bluecor Fan Fold Foam Research and Testing

I did an episode on Bluecor Fan Fold Foam and Hot Glue, where to get it, how strong it is, its chemical properties, etc. Oh, and how well it burns

Check it out!

Episode 7 - Bluecor and Hot Glue (8 min 39 sec)

Forgot to ask, where do you all get your bluecor?

Also, those not in the U.S. (assuming you don't have a Lowes ) where do you get your bluecor?

Now, if you could post the SKU number and UPC code, I will see if the Lowes near me can get it.

Thanks.

Buzz.

Well done! Unfortunately not all Lowe's carry it and ordering is not an option. I have to drive over the hill to CA to find the nearest Lowe's that carries Fanfold.

Sounds like a new business opportunity I'll have to do some research on future episodes then on what modelers can do when bluecor is not available to them (depron, eep, etc).

Good idea, There's always Redi Board from the Dollar Store @ 1.00$ a sheet. The foam has paper on each side that needs to be removed if you want to keep it lite, there is a whole thread on that somewhere.

FFF is still cheaper though(I did the math before buying my first pack of FFF).
You should do an episode on the pink FFF.

Agreed it is by far the best deal for foam, but we were saying it is not available in all parts of the country (I think it is related to building codes) so what is a good alternative.

Technically its not blucor anymore, Dow quit making FF blucor, now its called Dow Protection Board III. Very similar, yet different. The original blucor was lighter had skin on both sides, and didn't have the waves that some PBIII has.

The part number for Lowes is 127129.

Lay flat foam has skin on both sides. It's less wavy than PBIII. I found it at local lumber yard where you pay up front in the office and go in back and they pick it for you.

This stuff is used for insulation and water barrier. Neither is really needed in a hot desert like I live in. Never a soggy cold day out here.

Did you get the UPC and bar codes yet?

Buzz.

P.S. Allied builders used to have something similar but yellow in color.
