Syncro Electric Ducted Fan Glider

Anyone bought one the Syncro Electric Ducted Fan Glider's yet. I just saw it in my LHS and it looks pretty slick. And at $99 it's a pretty cheap investment.
With interchangeable wings and a ducted fan it seems pretty flexible. I'm wondering how it flies as a glider? I would think the ducted fan would cause a lot of drag.

I dont see any reason why you couldnt take the EDF off too and use it as a pure glider.

Never thought of it as a pure sailplane. Can't see why you couldn't do it.

I just caught this on YouTube. I have always wondered if someone would make a powered glider kit with an EDF on it instead of a prop. Looks like a cool concept, especially the with the second set of wings that come with it. I also like the fact that it is a kit without any electronics.

It looks like it really handles well as a sport plane from the videos. The rolls are really sharp and handling looks tight. It's hard to tell how well it would fly as a glider. In the video the motor was always running even with the glider wing installed. It would be hard to show much about the plane in a 2 minute video.

I made this little glider. 22"ws, 3mm fuse,2mm wings, EDF unit was from an Airhoggs E-charger EDF plane(ToysRus $12), 4-Site Pz brick, 165mAh 25C hyperion battery. Flew nice and slow indoors. Making another improved model using the same unit but with a PZ Mustang motor. Saw this at my LHS to and buying it this Monday. Simple build and it's even got landing gears to boot HA! $99 for kit and fan unit. You'll need 6 servos two for rudder and elevator and 2 for each wing. Also you need to get BL motor,ESC,Rx and battery. Around $275 total cost to build. Not too badly priced.

When I started this thread I saw the plane in Hobby Town. They told me they only had it for a week then. I thought it was a steal at $99.

I just got an email from Tower Hobbies www.towerhobbies.com earlier this week. They have them and depending on when you buy it, they have free shipping deals or $10+ off depending on your order size.

I like the idea of being able to switch wings for different flying. A calm day , you use the big wings and if it gets a little breezy , switch to the smaller wings . I bet it won't be long that somebody will paint it like a He 162.
