Hi all,

First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. I didn't find the section to do it on RCG so I might as well just do it here. I live in France and I've always been into airplanes. Being a long time Flight Simulator anthousiast, having flown a couple of times (no PPL yet) and having built a fair amount of static models, I thought I'd try out RC planes! So here I am.

Inspired mainly by Airbuzz and Neffwaffe (on youtube), I decided to build a 1:22 scale 95% depron A319 and I'm starting this threat for those who would like to follow its progress and perhaps give me some veeery useful advise as I'm new to the hobby.

Target weight is 1.5kg.
The model is going to be powered by 2 GWS EDF75
It will have flaps and retracts and I'll try to make it look as much scale as possible (static model builder side of me). It will probably take me some time to build... Besides, I still need to learn how to fly an RC plane first!!

Had a day off today and since the structure has pretty much dried, I figured I'd do some sheeting

Which in my case, involves window cutting...

Here goes my first questions

I'm going to order electronics stuff soon and I would like your input on my choices...

1° Have any of you tried these servos and are they good units? Because their price just caught my eyes!

2° As I said before, I'm gonna go with the GWS EDF75's. If I understood correctly what I read on this forum and on the net, I am going to need 2 brushed ESC's, and 2 3S lipos.

- The only brushed ESC's I could find were 30A. Will they work with the GWS stock motors that draw only 15A max. ?

- As for the lipos, will 25C 2200mAh do the job?

I havent tried those servos, but they look ok

The 30 amps will work fine, It dosent matter if you have a 100 amp esc, just as long as the ESC can give what the motor needs

a standard 3S 20C 2200 is good for 44 amps continuous so your 25C will work even better

If you feel like using the ESC to its max you can run both fans off of the brushed ESC, just wire them in parrallel

oh man, Im so in to watch this build.
Also do those lego guys have their AF&PP certifications? If not you might want to consider having somebody else build your plane I think theres some former southwest airlines mechanics looking for a job right now....

foam and tape : Thanks a lot for the advice. I'll go for those cheap servos then! If I use only one ESC to its max like you said, shall I also plug in the 2 batteries in parallel?

yup, put the batts in parrallel even if you use two ESC's. You dont want to be flying around on final and have one side shut down when you need to do a go around

Didn't do much these days except some cockpit window cutting...

Playing around with depron door mechanism.

Mounted front right door. Other doors will be built the same way.

As I didn't do the second arm on the top of the door, I will just be adding a cardboard clip at the bottom of the doors when open. They will only be opened for pilot placement/removal and display purposes and it doesn't look that bad. I think I can make the clip smaller though.
