i dont think there is a light setup with gas power. it's all about balancing what you've got.

the slick floats so good it doesnt really matter about the weight.

i agree with this. you could have it 9 pounds and have it at 15 pounds and not feel the difference when your flying.

With a DLE 30 I use a single, 2300mah A123 to power everything, an AR6210 Rx and an 8 ounce fortitude RC gas tank. I come in at 10.5 pound with a full tank and I think that is pretty good

I am thinking about ordering one of these slicks but a question about the version they are selling now, do I have to cut a hole for the carb and does the dle 30 bolt right up and give the right clearance to the spinner adapter?

the dle comes with the right length standoffs for the 71 slick and there is no hole in the firewall for the carb you have to drill that yourself

I recommend you just use a 1" hole saw and put a hole in the firewall behind the carb to ensure adequate airflow. As far as engine mounting, the kit comes with a drill template and it is easy. As venom mentioned, the stock DLE standoffs work just fine.

THE OS GT33 also uses the exact same bolt pattern and the OS 5x44.5mm standoffs makes the spinner gap perfect

buy the slick .... you wont be sorry.

I got an orange one last Sept... my brother and i have dogged the crap out of it.... these planes are TOUGH! it should have been totalled several times but only wound up with minor damage each time (been thru 4 landing gears thanks to my former DLE30 inverted flameouts)

Switched to OS GT33 now life is good!

I love my first orange slick so much i bought a red one so i could have two at the field and fly them back to back ..... and now another orange one for a spare in case i turn the first one into toothpicks at some point (which i am sure i will) These planes fly so good and so slowly my brother sometimes is amazed it doesnt just fall out of the sky. Absolutely ZERO bad characteristics and will almost land itself.

I just know i dont EVER want to be without a 71" gas slick in my hanger!

with my LiFe batterys charged i can toss it in the car with my transmitter and a gallon jug of fuel and, as quick as i can bolt the wings on, fly six 12-14 minute flights with no additional field supplies. Perfect for that golden hour right before dusk.

Joe Smith said the 71" gas slick is his "go to" plane and has over 1200 flights on his orange one. Its not like he is exactly taking it easy on the airframe either.

love this video....

everytime i fly my slick i land with a smile on my face because the plane is so amazing. even the birds love it lol they will follow it when im flying slow. just be careful because the plane is so light the birds might think its a stick and carry it away.
