do you have to drill a hole behind the carb?

I would...just go to Ace and get a simple 1" hole saw that you can stick in a drill

Tom, tell me about battery placement for ignition and servos. Are they pretty far forward or closer to the wing tube? Just curious. I'm running a life for ignition and a lipo for servos. Both unregulated so there isn't any extra crap in there for power share or voltage regulators.

even with my batteries right behind the wing tube my Slick is a little nose heavy.. I'm running only one elevator servo and I'm seriously considering doing two to try and get the CG more neutral

I am just getting ready to start building mine. This will be my 3rd slick. I was curious for the guys running the DLE30 with a cannister which cannister are you using?

Hey Nate, my battery is back under the hatch latch.......i had to install an additional tray to do that. My CG is a tiny bit nose heavy in this configuration where i like it. I tried it up by the wing tube but it was too nose heavy. Unless you do 2 elevator servos, you can probably plan on doing the same thing

I just cut a piece of light ply and epoxied it in between the former under the latch and the area where the pull pull servo goes. Simple as that really

You may have already seen these since I'm pretty sure they have been posted on this thread before (can't remember for sure). But here are pics of my build so far. It has been sitting for a little over a week with no progress due to waiting on parts. the last part should arrive tomorrow so it may be all finished up this week. Additional pics will be posted to this same album as more progress is made.

You can see the mods applied to the motorbox. This is due to how the first version of the 70" slick was made to accomodate a side-carb DLE 30. We cut out 25mm to make room in the cowl for the PTE 36cc that occupies the same exact space as a DLE 30.

We ended up wishing we would have cut out 30mm but it is going to be great how it is. Incidentally the newer version has a MB that is 30mm shorter than the original.
