There are a few flying with a 30CC in them. In the electric 3D forum under the 71 slick we talk about both gas and electric setups. It was just easier to have them both in one place

I'm gonna have to setup a hat cam! the group I typically fly with are deep into electric flying and none of them will come out to the airfield where I fly my gas setups.... slackers!

My 71" is done. The ignition battery (A123 1100ma) is on side of motor box and, the Rx battery (A123 2300ma) behind wing tube. Maiden tomorrow weather permitting.

Dle30 rear carb conversion with Bowman ring and, cannister exhaust.
Rexel Opto-kill switch
Vess 19A
A123 batteries. Rx 2300 and, ignition 1100
Fiji 550ml tank (saves weight)
Flywheelz 3" aluminum hub wheels
Hitec's 7985's and, a XQ metal gear servo for throttle.
3" CF spinner

Thank you! all for help. Especially Steve400 for putting up with my bullsh*t.

I started trimming the monocote last night for assembly... I"ll post some pics!

Battery switches arrived yesterday and I also picked up the HS225MGs for the Elevator setup.

I'm planning on mounting a DLE30 with the rear carb conversion kit... I haven't installed the rear carb kit yet... did you do your own conversion? If so, any tips?

Also, what's your AUW now?

thanks

Flyracer,

The conversion kit is simple but, you will need to reseal the rear cover (case) with a good sealant. I used the loctite aneorobic sealant and, let it set for at least 24hrs. The new case rear cover is not going to be a snug fit like the cover you are removing from your engine, that's why you need to use the sealant. Just remove the carb from your engine (2 screws) then remove the rear crankcase cover (4 screws) remove the rear cover as you will notice it's a nice and, tight fit. Now, remove the pin that you will see (you do not need it). Trial fit the new cover and, you will notice how loose it goes on compared to the one you just removed. There is a reason for that (don't worry). now that you trial fitted everything, remove the new cover and, add a good continous bead of sealer around the perimeter/face (make sure it's clean before adding sealer) now, gently place the new cover on. Do not fully tighten the 4 screws yet! hand screw the 4 screws. Now, with the new cover on and, screws hand turned snugged, you should notice some of your sealant seeping out the sides (that's good). It's ok if it seeps inside the crankcase (don't worry) it will burn out. Now, turn your engine over a few times. This will allign your rotating assembly, make sure it's turning freely. As soon as you feel that everything is lined up properly, start tighting the screws with your allen wrench (tighten in the screws little by little going into opposite corners) until fully tighten. Clean off ecess sealant that may have squeezed out. Mount carb back on. Your done. Let set 24hrs.

Many thanks for the detailed instructions! It sounds/reads like an easy enough process. I'll give this a try over the weekend.
