It is a receiving antenna. It will have no effect on GPS.

Can I have my turnstile antena like this? Im worried since it goes ontop of the carbon rod? Check blue lines for turnstile location. Should i use another antenna?

That's fine. The rod won't bother it.

When you say lay your transmitter antenna flat, to you mean pointed straight away from you vs being pointed up, or do you mean turned to the side?
A little confused.

Hate to ask stupid question, but are the antenna on uhf not a whip style of antenna that don't have a hinge or rotation to turn them sideways?
Won't it be uncomfortable to hold your radio at that angle?

Most people would turn their bodies sideways instead of just the radio.

Compared to the cloverleaf, it is far much easier. Shall try it out tomorrow. Thank you for the great tutorial.

Just to clarify some questions, picture speaks a thousand words.

^That works! A bit over the top on the stiffening of the turnstile, but not a problem if you can do it.

Hi Alex, again THANKS for sharing...

The video states 18-22AWG, your Quote is 20-24, which is correct? Because I was going to use wire that was right in the middle of the thickness range. You did state that element thickness is critical.. Or is the range really 18-24AWG?

Alex
If the wires are past the wing, is it ok to curve them a bit to make them fit or do they need to be perfectly aligned.
