There has been a lot of interest in the new Electric Formula One pylon racing event. Many old veterans to pylon racing as well as new guys that have never raced before want to give the event a try. We have seen the recurring inquiry on this forum that asks "what kits are available and what are the key components that are approved or recommended for the event?"

To this end, I have compiled a list of the approved and recommended key components that make up an electric Formula One model. As time goes on and more kits and components are approved or proven to be successful, I will try to keep the list up to date.

Note: "Approved" components are specified as to what the rules will allow. ie. specific approved motors, or specific approved propeller, or specific approved ARF kits.

"Recommended" components refers to various components used in an E-F1 legal model that have been found to work well, are of reasonable cost, and meet the intent of the rules. Recommended components are simply suggestions to those that want direction for what works. These items are not required, nor are they in any way specifically endorsed by the NMPRA.

To be honest, they are simply off the top of my head from what I know to work well by my experience and by the experiences of others.

How about the Miss Outrageous and Miss Dara from Dan Kane? I 'm building both.

I am trying to capture the ARF and laser cut wood kits that are commercially available.
I have an Outrageous as well but it was a limited run of kits from Jerry and Dan. I am not aware that the Outrageous and Dara kits are commercially available at this time. If you are scratch building, I am not capturing the many, many scratch-build capable plans that are available.

As far as the Miss Dara and Outrageous are concerned. Both are on a limited run basis and as ARF version of each become available neither will be offered in kit form again.

As it stands now I only have one Outrageous kit left and 6 Miss Dara kits. Once these are sold, I don't plan to offer them again.

Is the Sundowner 36 officially recognized?

Yes, the Sundowner 36 is officially recognized.

I will advise that this model is larger than the current minimum specs for EF1.

I believe that the race scheduled for May in Muncie will also have EF1. I need to confirm this but I heard there is a strong chance that it will happen. As well as a EF1 only race possibly in Dayton, OH later this year. Plus the Cincinati race in June will have EF1.
