Taki, I did run it on 6S with the supplied stock motor, BUT(!!), I failed to check if the water lines were pumping & they weren't & the motor went kapoof!

It got so hot I couldn't touch it, my stupid friend did then ran for the water to cool his burning finger.

Any 36mm motor will slide right in to the cooling jacket. The longer the can, the more torque & the lower the kv the more torque & less amp draw on high voltage.

If you want to go fast, buy a motor capable of handling more than 22.2v of around 2000kv or less (I run this size with an Octura X440/3). If you go for a 1500kv motor you can increase the size of your prop to increase the speed.

However, upon testing, you MUST monitor motor & ESC temps before running WOT for a whole pack. If you don't, you may see your pretty Genesis become very, very ugly. :-)

I wonder whether you could tell me if the stock drive hardware is secure and OK for boating on 4S setup. Will you advise me to change it with these ones from OSE only if I decide to move on to 6S or it is necessary to change it anyway 'cos stock drive hardware is rubbish.

I have not had my boat in the water yet, but I was going to run stock motor and stock 4mm shaft with 2x2S 5000mAh 40C in series and see how it goes. The stock shaft should be fine. My water tubing had a hole in it upon arriving. Be sure to check for leaks. I had serious doubts about the effectiveness of that stock ~2.5mm ID water tubing. I have upgraded it to 4mm ID tubing. I wanted to get the boat in the water this weekend, however my batteries are taking their sweet time getting here from Hobbyking.

I will put the receiver in a balloon as well (thank you Rusty Old Fart for the tip) so it doesn't get wet. I have already purchased a 3/16 shaft upgrade kit, but I will run with stock before upgrading it.

For anyone on this thread that would like an upgrade with a single drive, this Tacon is a 4 pole motor and should rip on 4s, it can spin a fairly large prop as well..............you will need a 40mm ID short jacket and a rear support ring

Or if you want a direct drop in, this 4 pole 3674 motor will work well. This motor will pull less amps than the stock 8XL but will give you a speed increase as it can turn a larger prop. It has more torque due to the 4 pole design. It will also run much cooler and thusly last longer.

I'm still waiting my Genesis from HK. More that 1 month the boat is on back order.

Not yet Taki, I'm back at university studying & my time is consumed in great quantities with it.

I still need to lay the kevlar/carbon into the sponsons where the batteries lay, drill & tap the end bell of the motor & from memory, I think that's it.

To be honest, I haven't looked at it in a while & I have been R&Ding converting a petrol/gas scooter (like a Goped) to BL.

Still on B/O?

I looked at HK site. They have only hulls on stock. I have ordered a kit which is still on backorder.

I have a bunch of stuff on B/O with HK.

Including my Tear Into jetboat's motor water jacket. In four days it will be two months!!

I've emailed & they just say, "They are coming". Hopeless!!

i saw your suggestion about the flex cable and the flex shaft but this flex shaft is stepped down to 1/8" shaft. It is OK?

I own metal props for 3/16" shaft and with that shaft I'll not be able to use them.

Sorry about that, I didn't read it correctly.

I would go the second option you linked & check the little box for the assembled version or you could get the unassembled one like I did & build it yourself. It's very easy & it gives you enough flex cable to do two. If you happened to break one.

In the mean time, I have received my little jet boat parts & can somehow manage to find the time to work on this as most things only require double sided tape to mount.

Great news, finally I got my Genesis!

I'm very happy with it. It looks really nice.
I noticed that the stock flex cable is exactly the same diameter like that one I bought from OSE. Do you advice me to change it or to leave the stock one. What about the bras tube. Is it safe to leave the stock or I must change it too.

It runs fine with stock motor etc. If you ever plan to upgrade your genesis though then you should think about going 3/16.

I also have a genesis which has been undergoing a rebuild for the past month. Including carbon fiber reenforced hull, 3/16 shaft, leopard 4082 motor, swordfish 240HV and some eagletree datalogging. I have done most of the work, but hard to find time to complete it during exam period.
