Sprint Cat 40 for Q Offshore

A while back I bought a sprintcat hull from bustitup over on OSE. Finally have most of the pieces & parts rounded up to put it together and finished the body work on it this past week. (it was kinda rough and will let it go at that)
Just finished shooting it with some rustoleum red (to hide all the body work) and thought this would be as good a time as any to start the build on it.

I'd been procrastinating on building it until last week when I found a rudder and strut for it in the OSE swap shop for $30 shipped.

Cool! Should be a fun "basher" boat since its a pre-owned one that you had to "hide bodywork" on. I bet you get 50+ with it on a 47-50mm prop. I have my Pursuit thats my basher, not all worried about if it flips or plugs or i knock it on the door on the way out etc............all fun and no worry.

Thanks scorp & Rusty. This one is being set up to replace my Genesis as a more serious Q boat. The Genesis is still a good runner and plenty fast but it's prone to rolling over in race water due to being so skinny. There's not enough room in it to carry 6s 2p for the longer offshore heats either. The Sprint Cat handles race water really well based on watching (and being beatne by ) a couple of them that are being run by other club members.

This one doesn't really have good enough access to the sponsons for putting fat 6s packs in them either. That's why I went so far forward with the motor and esc. The packs will wind up sitting on top of the tunnel although exact placement point for balance has not yet been worked out.

If this is the ~36" hull, it'll be FAST and stable for you. It'll stay on the water easily at 60+ mph and corner really nicely as well!

It is the 36"er. There are two others in our local group that have them and I've been impressed by the way they corner. Seems like a nice stable hull.

You'll love it! My next build will be a 29" sprint cat on a leopard 4074 or a neu and 4s.

I'm thinkin I'll like for what I have in mind. The ones sailr & higndry have seem to corner really well. I'm just hoping with it being a smaller lighter hull I can get a 4 min+ run with the 1717 on 2p. It only needs to run about 55 to be competitive (on a local level) in Q.

Not a lot accomplished today. Still trying to be careful with the paint. I did remount the motor and strut/rudder to have a guide for making the stuffing tube though.

SO Bill, these Cat's aren't that much different under the waterline that the Offshore Designs...kinda like a Cat hull with a hydro/F1 canopy/deck????

It does look to be wider than your Genesis and deeper hull as well.

Right on all counts Brian. The sponson design on this one looks closer to my big Expresscraft cat than it does the Genesis. Although the Genesis design is a good one too, at least IMO.

Here's an interesting bit of trivia. The Sprintcat hull is actually an inch shorter than the Ginnie. But the sprint has a beam of 14" compared to 9" on the Genesis. It's a fat kitty but they do handle race chop and corners really well.

As for the hatch, it really reminds me of a turbine hydro more than anything else. Wish it had been a couple inches wider. Then this hull would have lent itself to putting the batts in the sponsons. There's no way to get 6s packs between the hatch opening and inside sponson sides though.
Overall, it doesn't look like any scale boat I've ever seen but will pass the rules requirements for the class and should finish more races than the Genesis.

Like this? 6S2P/4500 mAh cells. Neu 1527/1Y, 40-160, x455, 60 mph in rough race water.
