UGH! You just about had a mouth full of food coming your way Mike. There is enough sh*t flying around this continent without you posting it here!

Why anyone would take a picture of his load and post it here is beyond me. With Michele gone things must be getting dull or poor Mikey is running out of things to shoot with the new camera he got for Christmas.

Poor Patti, it must be hard on her.

True, but a diode also has a typical voltage drop, depending on the type of material used. The best way to get a voltage down to a steady is a voltage regulator, but a diode can be a cheap, dirty fix to get roughly the same result.

What you are talking about, if I remember correctly, is a Zener diode. It has been ages since I used one along with some other components to make a voltage regulated power supply.

A diode has a typical voltage drop, some have 0.4 volts drop, some 0.7 volts drop. To get higher voltage drop, simply put some in series. However, as it's not a voltage regulator circuit, like we see in a BEC, the resulting voltage is not fully stable, when input voltage varies. Whereas a voltage regulator will put out a fixed voltage, as long as the input voltage is above the treshold voltage that the regulator at least needs to be working well.

I'm gonna risk it again... posing a question that is, not messin' with batteries! Please feel free to redirect to a different, more appropriate thread.
The Skywing is starting to get sluggish about halfway through a battery, well before the voltage becomes too low. First thing I notice is a sluggish or non-exsistant response to RH yaw with a corresponding drop in rpm (and altitude). When I land and let sit for a minute or two (cool down?) I get great lift and turn response in both directions. It sure seems like the continuous run time is causing it, suggesting heat. Possibly one of the motors going bad? I've double checked gear clearances and rotational efforts (back-driven by hand) seem smooth and ok.
Advise and thanks again for all your help and photographic contributions...
Mike

Happy New Year everyone!

I have a case of the gout so seafood was out of the question. I took the leftover taco meat and fixings from last night and made mini tacos in the "Scoops" chips. Most excellent

I'm tuned into New York City. This year is a special tribute to Dick Clark:
