I absolutely want floats. You will need either one big and two small floats, or two fairly big floats. I dont dare to try to fix that on my own! So I might have to wait a long time before I get a plane like the one you have. Unless I electrify an old Lazair with floates. Might be difficult to find one in Europe, however. And buying one in North America seems also troublesome, if you donīt live there. I donīt own a place in America where I can rebuild the plane, and transporting it to Europe wonīt be cheap and easy.

What's the point? The Lazair IS FAR 103 compliant already. All you'll get with 1/2 the batteries is 1/2 the flight time and maybe a bit more performance.

I think the real point is if someone at the FAA gets a bit power hungry and decides that the volume vs weight argument is not a valid excuse for violating the weight limit.

I think we will all be better off if folks stop inventing hypothetical problems where none exist.

Understand that this is setting an important precedent for ALL electric FAR 103 aircraft, and we must make every effort to ensure the most favorable interpretation is accepted.

This plane has flown at Oshkosh, entered in the EAA Electric Flight contest, and been mentioned in tons of articles. NOBODY has expressed a doubt in Dale's interpretation of the rules.

Can we please let this sleeping dog lie? Stop beating the dead horse? Acknowledge that the parrot, is, in fact, dead?

I am wondering how CASA and the RAAus are going to approach this question here in Australia. They always seem to screw things like this well and truely. For instance there is now a push from within CASA to ban single engine aircraft of all types from flying over built up areas. There has been very little if any consideration towards electric powered aircraft here. Will they follow the USA lead or bring in more useless rules like they have in the past. We have no FAR103 type rules here. All over regulated.

I'm not worried about FAR103, I only care about russian ФАП-147, it does not mention the fuel.

Good thing is the eLazair has two engines!

In most countries it doesn't matter if the weight of the plane is 300 kg instead of 120 or 90 kg, as they only have one weight limit for ultralight planes and it use to be between 300 and 650 kilograms.

Means you will have to get an UL-license and also might have to visit a physician once upon a while. I sure would like to have easier rules for electric and really light two-engine planes as the eLazair.
