RC kite build logs.. show your kite and link it to your build log

I thought a simple thread to show your design... and with a link to its build log or discusion thread might help everybody to select a kite to build..

Will everybody please post in the same format and keep all comments posted to the build thread relevent to the design..

First a description and name...

Next the link...

Then any pictures...

Then a video...if one is available

The Octagonal design

How about an Octagon.. the shape makes for a better braced design. and the flying is second to none..

This is one of my favorites.. It can be made fully of CF and fabric with a non working removable tail as per the simple design..
Or it can be made with a depron body and working rudder as in the picture..I must admit to liking the depron body and rudder, for making fitting the radio gear a doddle and for the improved flying a rudder makes possible

The build is here for an octagon or a slight mod to a full circle

Hi Guys !!

I am back... Happy New Year 2015!
Planning to revive the RC Night Kite this year and form a group in Malaysia (KL) to enjoy this lovely craft.

This was my last project that took me longer than expected. Converting a Zero Wind line kite to RC with a Vector Thrust Pod. Removable of course.

Very nice kite Ken. Any videos on that one yet? Would love to see RC Kites get popular in the States. I will be following this thread...

Hi Ken,

I like Your Platz-Glider (plutz-glider)! I converted mine to an RC-Vectorkite in 2012 and had a lot of fun with it.

Video: www.crazyplanes.de/platzglider.wmv

It's flight-performance is wonderful, I flew it with a 15grs. BL-Motor and a 300mAh 2S-Lipo, total flightweight less than 200grs.

As far as I know, the kite-designer was Chee Wan Leong (You?) of Malaysia.
On the site
http://kitelife.com/kl-archive/the-glider-craze/
are pictures, videos and descriptions of so called 'Zero Wind Kites', flown perfectly from some artists indoor in a gym.
There is also a black plutzglider, flown outdoors as a single-line kite (4th Video on the site).
And, nevertheless, PRISM kites offer a wonderful designed plutzglider.

Have fun!

Oh! Wow! How did our idea come clashing similarly? Haha... (Great Minds Think Alike?).

My vector however was only T&R (Throttle & Rudder). I have another pod with TER (Throttle Elevator and Rudder), or so called 1 axis vs 2 axis.

My elevator was to push throttle and the kite automatically goes up. Kinda dangerous, if i catch an up-draft or thermal, i may lose the kite and all.

Cee Wan is a good kite friend of mine. But this kite was 'copy' of Cee Wan's. He knows about it, don't worry. It will not be in production.

In 2009, on the Inter-Ex in Needervert (Netherlands), a Meeting of European Experimental Modellists, I made some Fotos of an Platz - RC-Glider:
Foto No. 1 shows the original Platz Gleiter of the 20ies last century , more Information about the historical background is shown on the site

http://www.jonsinger.org/jossresearch/tjiirrs/007.html

The 'Pilot' of the red plutzglider RC-Model contained servos for steering the frontsails with his hands. The 150cm model was designed by Arthur Leeuwangh and is also shown here:
