MultiWii-Quad with 2 Servo for Yaw Control

Hello all,

Just wanted to show .. what may be a first ..

Thanks To Alex providing some test software I got this Quad X of the grounds..

It uses 2 Servos for Yaw control in X configuration.

What I love the most is through this entire process not one broken prop,

It was a windy day.. as is the norm here for this season and it handles great..

Great! Great! Great!

I am a big fan of servo/tilt for yaw control. The copter will be sooooo responsive in yaw. I have been hoping and waiting for Alex to write this software. Is it available generally? Thanks Alex!!!

Nice! I think... can you provide some closeup photos as I'm not really sure what's going on!

Are you tilting two of the motors? What's the benefit of this system? Better yaw control?

Yep.

This is my gyro-only Quad (ie, non-KK) with two servos for tilting motors:

it is a cool multicopter.
Personally, I do not like quads too much but prefer multis that resemble the helicopter layout a tad more - TRIs are perfect (for me, that is).

But do not get me wrong; I am happy for you and appreciate to see new layouts popping up and working good.

Hello all..

Yes... the codes i on Alex Google repository (MultiWii_QUAD_SERVO_test.zip)

you can follow a bit of what I did here -http://wbb.multiwii.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=126

Some minor code changes as my servos need to be limited
and directions change...

Yaw is super fast so far.. I had to limit it to 60% (and still fast) on the radio and that even with me already limiting travel ..

Advantages of the system..

Main Advantage.. (I think it get the Super Cool factor .. )

Well.. The Ideas came to be .. because..

1. finished my first Quad .. it worked well.. but I could always hear the motors mixing.. and adjusting specially on slow forward flight and Yaw turns.

2. I finished my Tri.. and it was like flying silent.. yaw control was great.. and flew first time with no PID adjustment..

I posed the question.. why cant we have a quad.. with yaw control..
Alex provided some test code... and here we are..

The code.. ( not that I'm an expert) .. I believe he has removed the yaw motor mix and added the servo mix.

You can configure with 1 servo like + or X with 2 ( with Y or independent channels..)

I'll make video close up of the mechanical part .. later today..

Thanks all for your interest..

Thanks Flyhigh300

My Quad has no controller board - just five HK410B gyros.

I also have another (even simpler) Quad with just four gyros.
