I know that right now he's busy with the lancaster project, and his wife is visiting from the UK for the first time.

I never knew Scott was married. He must have an understanding wife given that he's based in HK

1)Panama --the VQ mechanicals are not worth the effort, they are an early release version about 10 years ago , no inovation and they have problems
2)The VQ struts , are some of the best deals you can buy , I have used them on 90 size planes in the 12 lb range and love them because you dont have to cut , drill and tap like you do with Robart and they are 1/2 the cost .
3)The third pic is century jet , i have about 9 sets of them because I like the turn key out of the box use , they come with an air control unit , its worthless , you need to buy the robart one so plane on another $24 --robart air control valve .Century was known early on for weak struts that would bend on a not so good landing , Bruce (the owner) is very good and active in the threads and he fixed the early problem.
4)ESM retracts in air power avg cost about $139 to $169 , they look great but have air leaks, and they are build for planes in the 12 to 17 lbs range , they just introduced the esm eletric retracts , knowing this will cure the air leak problem .
Dont know how good the new esm eletric retracts will be , I know early test are good but they are very slow in retraction .
4)kackoid , great job on the P40
5)I was also looking at the 1/4 P40 , the only issues is that its looks to be a very long build

Ditto. And, just to stir the pot again...
Any word on the V2 version? Will it cure all the problems -landing gear, control surface hinging,wobbly/warped/unbalanced spinner/prop assy., missing parts, QUALITY CONTROL-that have hindered this bird from day 1?
Be nice if it were available here in the States, too.
Bottom line here, all this has to be hurting sales, you don't lower prices on a brand new item within days of its release if sales are at all good.
, that's basic economics. How many sales has this thread cost them? This whole operation has to be a huge embarrassment for HK, and, sadly, they've only themselves to blame. The chinese manufacturers are capable of superb work, but you have to stand over them with a whip and a gun to get it. And HK should have known that better than most
Hopefully, they've figured it out by now, but time will tell...

"Stud" is back...well almost. it's not pretty enough to put back on the flight line so it may not make it for this weekend.

I do think it's a beauty. My only scale-ish warbird out of a fleet of many.

Well, chaps, I finally buit up the courage to fly Stormy Weather at my local Park.
She flew beautifully.
I put 2 batteries through her...First flight was no worries, but on the second landing, the left main collapsed. My 5 year old daughter had the nikon snapping away and she caught this great sequence of the gear failing.

Here's the slide show. It is a blend of the two flights, showing only the good landing. The photography is a mix of my wife's and my 5 year old daughter's.
They're both getting pretty good too.

This is a pic of Stormy after having gone through 'Water My Photo' app on the iPhone.

Sorry to hear this news Rob,one would have expected the plane to cope with that short and smooth grass surface.Hope it's not to badly damaged. Please don't tell me your going to give up on this plane.
We need to get
Scott back into this discussion.
Tell your 5 year old daughter she did a fantastic job none the less.
How do you feel it flies otherwise? How does it compare to the smaller FMS model?

G'day Kaikokid,
Give up???? Heavens no.
It is my greatest hope that Scott and Andrew see pics and slideshows like this and those posted by others here which may spur them on to creating a V2 which addresses all of our issues.
The Landing, BTW, was pretty gentle, it was just ready to let go I guess.

Flight characteristics...Bloody lovely.
I fly Stormy the same way I fly CleopatraIII my FMS P40.
Stormy does have impressive power too. She is a HOOT to fly.
Very nice model to look at, and nicer still to fly.

Rob

It went back into place easily...kind of like puting a dislocated joint back in.
It sems solid enough, and I will fly her again as is, but, eventually will probably have to replace them.

Ahhh Rob, that was like mine... It collapsed on take off not landing. I had flown it 6 or7 time before and it seemed fine.

I would absolutely buy a v2. storm looked great and could have easily been mistaken for a full scale. Beautiful

Rob, some of the photos in your youtube clip look very scale-like

Nice model indeed. It is a lot of play in the retract/struts, and from the photo your daughter took, it looks like (maybe I am wrong) the left wheel gets a lot of toe out when compressed. That puts a great amount of stress on the retract.
