...see first pictures of the 2-D-vector-leon.
new: with the two back lines i can quick lift up the trailing edge (by wrapping the line around the top of the vectorframe).....works like an elevator (creates pitch)

can the lines be attatched to a servo to control pitch?

hi rcrich
nice idea,
but if you attache the lines to a servo, you will not get enough pitch for acrobatic flight. The better way is then to build a 3-D vector unit (with motor up and down)

advantage of my adjustable back lines is to find up a perfect setting on the flying field without using tools

...i have the posibility to change very quick the CG by pushing the lipo forward or backward
and i can increase/decrease the trailing edge (to change pitch) in a second.

by the way, the back lines helps a lot to stop "trailing-edge-fluttering"

thanks for your interest !

Hi, Vectorflyer
Looking at your simple 2D design and wondered whether you can't use the same idea for 3D ie more powerful servo attached to the smaller servo which is then attached to motor?

hi Ted

this is the thread "2-D-vector units", so i can`t fly here around with a 3-D-unit
(ha, ha, ha)

i have a 3-D-unit for the leon to, which works excellent, but consider:

1.
a 2-D-unit frame must be not so stiff as a 3-D, and in combination with only one servo all is very light-weight.
2.
prop and motor can fixed near the sail, because right and left works excellent there. motor up and down doesn`t work, if the vector frame is not high enough (prop blows in the sail)....so i can build very slim 2-D units
3.
i uses always same parts for my 2- and 3-D units (motors, esc, lipos.....)
....with my 2-D-units i fly always 30-50 percent longer than with 3-D

leon on a windy day

today was strong wind (4-6 Bft), so i fly my leon-kite as a single line kite.

i had to add a lot of tails, now the leon is really an "eye-catcher" and a very stable flyer!

enjoy pictures of my saturday afternoon flight !

Hi, Vectorflyer it was just a thought but I can see your reasoning and after all there's nothing like experience to iron out problems. Your new kite looks real smart.
cheers Ted

hi cutter7,
looks like a plastic sail and a wood frame.
....maybe this is not stiff enough for a vectorisation.

vision 2 D

turned my vision from premier into a 2-D-vector kite.
...changed all 6mm gfk-roots in lightweight 4mm carbon tubes and fly with my selfbuild 2-D unit about 15-20 minutes (with 800mAh lipo)
..will add a video soon !!!
